Hello, first-grade families! π September is in full swing, and we are having a blast in class! We have so many exciting activities and learning adventures planned for the upcoming week. Let's dive into what's coming up! π
π Next Week's Learning Adventures π
Phonics Fun: This week, weβll continue with consonant blends, focusing on the tricky r-blends. Some words you could practice for reading and spelling at home are trip, dress, grill, prize, broom, and crop. π
Reading Time: We will begin Unit Three, βBeing a Good Community Member.β Students will explore how people support their communities through fiction and informational texts. When reading with your child at night, ask the following questions: Who are the characters, what is the setting, and what happened at the beginning, middle, and end of the book? π
Math Magic: We will finish Unit One this week and move into Unit Two. In Unit Two, students will continue learning about addition and subtraction using numerals to 10. They will learn to count on to solve addition problems and count back to solve subtraction problems using a number line. ββ
Science Explorers: We will continue to better understand plant and animal offspring and how parents protect their young. π±πΎ
