USD 232 has been an important and strong participant in the Kansas Teacher of the Year Program for many years. De Soto has had fifteen state finalists and twelve semi-finalists represented in the program since 2000.

We would like for you to nominate any teacher whom you consider to be an outstanding and effective educator. This person must have completed 5 years of teaching with at least 2 of them having been in USD 232. If there is a USD 232 educator whom you believe to be outstanding and deserving of special recognition, please fill out the nomination form at www.usd232.org/ktoy . This form needs to be completed by 4:00 PM on January 19, 2024.

Excitement is in the air as we gear up for winter festivities! As we prepare for the upcoming 30-minute winter parties, we are currently on the lookout for enthusiastic Party Coordinators to plan engaging games and delightful snacks. Thanks to the generous support of the PTO, each student will also have the opportunity to enjoy a fantastic craft or activity.

Mark your calendars for Thursday, December 21st, and take note of the following schedule:

• Kindergarten - 2nd grade party times: 9:00 am - 9:30 a.m.
• 3rd - 5th grade party times: 11:00 am - 11:30 a.m.

Let's make this winter season unforgettable together!

Mill Valley’s Jaguar Leadership Corp. is partnering with Mill Valley Basketball to host a toy drive at their opening basketball game on Tuesday, December 12! The toy donations will be donated to Children’s Mercy Hospital and donations can either be toys or monetary donations via Venmo: @JLCMillValley. The first 50 K-12 students to donate a toy or money at the game will win a “Defend the Den” t-shirt. All donations are accepted and appreciated. Have a "Lunch Date" with your student at CCE! We kindly ask that you limit the number of adults eating with the student to 2, as we are limited on space. You only need to take one slot, even if more than one adult is attending. You are free to bring in a sack lunch from home, or food from restaurants. Lunch tables will be set up in the foyer area for "Lunch Dates". Outside food from restaurants is not allowed to be brought into the school cafeteria.
