Director's Thoughts... ๐ญ
Greetings Edmond Fine Arts Educators and Administrators:
Happy New Year to you each of you and welcome back to a new semester!
I know you are all very busy so I will keep this brief. At the recent OkMEA (Oklahoma Music Educator Association) Winter Conference, the clinician for the All-State Mixed Chorus - Dr. Lynda R. Hasseler - programed her selections around a segment from the poem "The Hill We Climb" by Amanda Gorman. The text reads:
For there is always light,
If only we're brave enough to see it.
If only we're brave enough to be it.
I am reminded that when times seem dark, and that there may be more work to be done,
the path for our students will be lit by teachers like you.
Be the LIGHT.
๐ก
As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to reach out!
The arts are ALIVE and WELL in Edmond Public Schools!

Thunderhawks Don't Throw Away Their Shot with These Slingshot Cars!!! ๐
Heartland 6th grade STEAM Art students explored mechanical energy (the sum of potential energy and kinetic energy). Students were challenged to design a slingshot car made from poster board, tape and popsicle sticks. Students also discussed how car engineers design automobiles to have built in crumple zones to protect drivers from head-on accidents (Newtonโs 3rd Law of Motion). Other energy-absorbing features designed to protect passengers are airbags, front and rear crash areas, and padded dashes.
Congratulations to our EPS OkMEA All-State Orchestral Students!!! ๐ป
