A Message from Ms. Vargas
Dear Peirce Families,
Our community represents many different winter holiday traditions. At the core of each one are themes of light, peace, and love. I wish Peirce families all three of these as we approach the upcoming school vacation.
Sincerely,
Andrea Vargas
Thank you, Peirce Community!
This year's holiday gift card drive was very successful! Due to the generosity of many donors, we were able to provide assistance with food, gifts, and other holiday needs to eight different Peirce families, many with with multiple children. Many thanks for your care and compassion for one another!
A Message Regarding Physical Education
Gary Nye is currently on medical leave, and we look forward to his healthy recovery and return to Peirce in late January. Last week Peirce welcomed Sirin Buruk, who will serve as Peirce's PE teacher during Mr. Nye's leave. Here's Ms. Sirin leading kindergarten students in yoga on Friday. Welcome to Peirce!
Student Phones and Smartwatches
Please be mindful that students are not permitted to have access to smartwatches or phones during the school day. For a variety of reasons, these devices are distracting and disruptive to both the academic and social goals of elementary school. Unfortunately, we have had several instances of misuse of phones and smartwatches by students. If a student must bring a phone or smartwatch to school , it should remain in silent mode in their locker for the entire school day. Teachers will hold devices that are used during school hours until caregivers are able to reclaim them.Thank you for understanding and supporting this policy.
Drive Line
In coming weeks, our 4th and 5th grade Green Team members will be reminding drivers to refrain from idling during car drop off and pick up in the rear of the school. I congratulate their efforts to combat pollution from cars and uphold local law.
As a reminder, cars dropping off at Peirce should pull up along the blue zone in the back parking lot. The space following the blue zone (where the sidewalk turns inward toward the school buiding) is reserved for buses and handicap parking only.
