PSAT
PSAT Information: Please read carefully as information is dependent on grade level
The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a great tool for students considering college. The PSAT/NMSQT measures critical reading skills, math problem-solving skills and writing skills. Aledo High School recommends that students take the PSAT/NMSQT in order to receive feedback about strengths and weaknesses, enter the competition for National Merit Scholar scholarships (11th graders) and to help prepare for the SAT.
Test Dates:
October 17: PSAT/NMSQT – all 10th grade students and registered juniors. We know there is a band conflict on this date and have scheduled a makeup day on October 30.
October 18: PSAT 8/9 – all 9th grade students
For all test administrations, students will need to bring a fully charged laptop (personal or school-issued). Students using a personal device will need to install the College Board Bluebook application prior to test day.
Junior parents and students: For the 2024 PSAT/NMSQT, juniors at Aledo High School will be registering online. This registration will take a few minutes and can be completed from any computer with internet access. Online Exam registration is currently open and will end on Fri, Sep 6, 2024 at 11:59 PM. In order to register, students should click on the link provided on the school website or visit www.TotalRegistration.net/PSAT/440065 to register .To complete registration, students must answer all of the required questions. Registration is not complete until students have printed the pdf of the confirmation page that is provided at the end. Please be sure to have a debit or credit card available before beginning registration. Paying online is a great way to make sure that payment has been made while avoiding mailing payment.
Here are the important dates for the registration process:
- Preferred Registration Deadline: Fri, Aug 30, 2024 at 11:59 PM – Registrations and payments made by this date will be charged $25. Registrations and payments after this date will incur a $10 late fee .

Curriculum Night September 30
Mark your calendars! On Monday, August 30, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM, we’ll be hosting our Annual Curriculum Night (Open House). This year, we are excited to offer a flexible, come-and-go format, allowing parents to move freely throughout the building at their own pace.
In addition to visiting classrooms and meeting your student’s teachers, be sure to stop by the AHS cafeteria, where we will have tables set up by student groups representing various clubs, organizations, and booster clubs. This is a wonderful opportunity to explore the many ways students and families can get involved and stay connected with the Bearcat community.
Feel free to drop in at any time during the event! We look forward to seeing you there and working together for an exciting school year!

Transportation
Parking Reminder
Aledo High School students who wish to drive and park in one of the high school student lots must purchase a parking permit for the 2024-2025 school year. The cost of an AHS parking permit is $50 for the entire year or $25 for those who only need parking for the second semester. Students who purchase a senior reserved parking spot do not need to buy a separate parking permit, as the cost is already included in the reserved spot fee. https://www.aledoisd.org/Page/8087
Parking fees will be used to support safety and security-related items at AHS and throughout AISD. General parking sales will open at 7 a.m. on Monday, August 5, through the AHS Event Box Office and will remain open for the entire school year. The map shows general parking areas marked in green. If you need financial assistance with parking fees, please contact your school counselor.
Parking Permit Sticker Pickup
AISD Police Officers will be available the remainder of this week in the cafeteria during lunches to purchase or pick up your parking permit. Please bring your receipt, auto insurance and driver license to get your sticker. Stickers are to be placed on the bottom left side of the rear windshield.

The Bearcats are gearing up for their upcoming district schedule, and they made a strong statement with a 37-27 victory over Lancaster on Friday in front of a packed crowd at Tim Buchanan Stadium. The home opener was a success across the board, with all phases of the game clicking. The raucous student section added extra energy, cheering the team on to victory. Lancaster, known for their speed and athleticism, struggled to gain momentum as the Bearcats' defense stifled them, holding them to 16 plays of three yards or less, including 10 for negative yards and two for no gain. Meanwhile, the Bearcats' offensive line provided solid protection, allowing the offense to execute efficiently.
Next, the Bearcats will begin District 3-5A Division I play against Brewer on Friday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. The Bears are expected to be playoff contenders, setting up an exciting matchup.

Tell us about your experience with an Aledo ISD team member who is Growing Greatness!!
As a reminder, we have streamlined absence reporting for all of our campuses for this school year. It is very important that we have documented reasons for absences so that we can ensure your student is given an excused absence when needed.
Please use this form to report your student's absence and upload any documentation. Allow 48 hours for information to be updated in the Ascender system, which will reflect in the Ascender ParentPortal attendance tab. Complete this form for EVERY day that your student is absent.
Attendance Matters
Research consistently shows a strong correlation between student attendance and academic achievement. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to excel academically and achieve higher grades.
In recognition of this, our campus has adjusted the exemption policy to include all high school students. Exemptions are earned through exemplary attendance, grades, and behavior. This change aims to encourage all students to maintain high standards in all areas, reinforcing the importance of consistent school attendance.
