We have finally reached the last week of October! What an Outstanding October we have had here at Dealey! Thank you to the PTA MS Dance committee for hosting the "It's Showtime!" dance on Friday night. A Special Thanks goes to Ms. Morales, Ms. Nguyen, the 8th grade teachers, and parent volunteers for escorting our 8th graders to Townview. We also have numerous events happening this week as well. Check out the campus calendar dates below for more details!

We administered our first district level mastery checks and we are topping the list for academic achievement! In the district! Achievement doesn’t just happen, it comes with reflection, wisdom and focused energetic action. All of these things are meticulously infused in “The Pencil’s Tale” video I shared in this newsletter.

This week we will all reflect on the 5 lessons from “The Pencil’s Tale” & share them with our students.

1. You will be able to do many great things, but only if you are willing to put yourself in somebody else’s hand.
2. Sometimes you may experience a painful sharpening, but remember this is what makes you a great pencil.
3. You will make mistakes, but you will always be able to erase them and start over again.
4. The most important part of you is what’s on the inside of you.
5. On every surface that you are used, you must leave your mark no matter what else happens. You MUST leave your mark.

Our first district level mastery check results show we are already scoring as an “A” campus!! We have sharpened and continue to sharpen our instructional and cultural practices here on campus. We are all eagerly encouraging learning and exploring with our Dealey Dragons.

We are looking forward to another week to be “Sharp as a Pencil”!
