Guidelines for Costumes & Celebrations at School on Oct. 31st
With Halloween preparations well underway for many families, we want to make sure all students enjoy the celebration safely and respectfully. Please review the following costume and celebration guidelines for October 31st to help your child have a great day.
Costume Guidelines:
School-Appropriate Themes:
Avoid costumes with violent, gory, or scary elements (e.g., no blood, weapons, or fake injuries).
No Masks or Full Face Paint:
For safety reasons, students’ faces should be recognizable. Light face paint is allowed, but no full-face coverage or masks.
Avoid Weapons and Dangerous Props:
Any props resembling weapons (e.g., swords, guns, knives) are not allowed, even if they are toys.
Respectful and Inclusive Choices:
Costumes should not include stereotypes, offensive cultural references, or mock another person or group.
Costumes with inappropriate words or symbols are not permitted.
Practical and Comfortable for the School Day:
Costumes should allow students to move freely and participate in regular school activities, including recess..
Please ensure costumes are easy to manage without frequent adult help (e.g., restroom access).
No Changing at School:
Students should arrive at school already dressed in their costumes.
Halloween Treats and Snacks:
No Candy or Food Gifts: We ask that students not bring candy or other food to distribute to classmates. If students would like to bring something special, non-food items like pencils, stickers, or erasers are welcome.
Snacks After Halloween: Please avoid sending large amounts of leftover Halloween candy as snacks in the days following Halloween. Healthy, manageable snacks are encouraged to help students stay focused throughout the school day.
Thank you for your support in making this a safe, fun, and respectful celebration for everyone!
Still Collecting Donations!
Dear School Community,
The devastation in the wake of recent hurricanes is heartbreaking. Our schools’ Project 351 has partnered with the nurses in an effort to try to support families impacted from the storms. We would like to collect donations from our school families to be sent to areas in need from hurricane damage. Our hope is that helping one area allows us to make a small difference for those experiencing such unbelievably challenging times.
Donations can be dropped off at any of the schools or brought into school by your student. We will be collecting donations until November 15. Then we will be partnering with organizations driving to areas impacted by the hurricanes.
Possible Items for Donation:
Bandaids
Toothbrushes/Toothpaste
Antibiotic Cream
Flashlights
Poison Ivy Cream
Packs of Socks and Underwear (All sizes)
Canned soups
Pet Food (5# and 15# bags)
Chef Boyardee
Work Gloves
Can openers
Bug Spray
We appreciate you taking the time to help our students with this community service project.
Many thanks,
Project 351 Team and School Nurses
