Notes from the Principal
Good Afternoon,
Welcome back! We have truly enjoyed having our students return to the building after winter break and getting back into the routine of learning and growing together. This week, we held reset meetings to review our school expectations and rules, including reminders about our technology policy and other important guidelines. Please note that I have included pick-up and drop-off reminders below.
Our conversations emphasized the importance of using kind words and keeping hands to ourselves, reinforcing the positive and respectful environment we strive for every day at GMSE.
We’re excited for a full week ahead and look forward to all the great things this semester! Have a wonderful weekend.
Go Bucks!
Take care,
Megan Kirsten

Updates from staff
6th Grade
All 6th grade students will be taking the Winter MAP Reading assessment starting Tuesday, January 14. Please encourage your child to do their best to show the progress they’ve made so far this year!
Ace 7/8 students are working in Chapter 7. We are working with slope and scatter plots. We will continue to investigate how various slopes impact equations and graphs.
On Thursday, 6th grade students were reminded of school expectations during a grade level meeting with Mrs. Kirsten. Some of the key points addressed involve keeping hands to yourself, limiting drama, being prepared (charged Chromebook, pencils, etc.), getting to class on time, and not chewing gum. Starting next week through the remainder of the year, TWO BOOK SIGNATURES IN ONE WEEK WILL EQUAL AN AFTER SCHOOL DETENTION. Students are aware of this change. Please continue to support strong work habits at home to help our students be as successful as they can be during the second half of 6th grade. A grade habit is having your child check the Launchpad each day to ensure they’re on track.
7th Grade
Ace 7/8 students are working in Chapter 7. We are working with slope and scatter plots. We will continue to investigate how various slopes impact equations and graphs.
Power of the Pen will take place on Monday in Mrs. Maynard’s room (room 1) from 3:50 - 4:30. If anyone would like to join Power of the Pen, we have one spot left! Let Mrs. Maynard know and show up to the meeting!
