Elementary School District 159

Greetings and welcome to our new weekly update. This newsletter is one of several platforms we are utilizing to provide effective, concise and cohesive communication to our stakeholders.

We are excited for the opportunity to continue to "Tell Our Story", and to share the great things going on throughout our school district with our community.

While we are currently providing remote learning to our students, our staff is committed to providing each of our scholars with the best education experience possible. We remain focused on our mission "To Educate, Empower and Inspire the Whole-Child".

Remote Learning has been extended for the remainder of the school-year. We want to ensure that all students have the resources needed to excel academically. The district will offer students needing access to a Chromebook one final opportunity to sign-up for a loaner device.

In order to receive a device you must complete the online loaner form. The form is accessible on the School District’s website at:

The form must be completed by 6pm on Monday, April 27th. No Request will be accepted after this time. The cut-off is necessary to allow the staff time to have the devices ready for pick-up.

Pick-Up Dates & Times

Thursday, April 30th from 10am-12pm at Marya Yates Elementary School

Friday, May 1st from 1pm-3pm at Marya Yates Elementary School

In our continuing efforts to ensure that the nutritional needs of our district's children are met, we will provide breakfast and hot lunches at Colin Powell Middle School, as well as breakfast and ready to eat cold lunch meals at each of our four elementary schools.

Meal distribution at Colin Powell will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m. from Monday through Friday.

In addition, the meals will be distributed at each of our elementary schools from 9:00am until 11:30am Monday through Thursday.

Our Grab & Go meals distribution will continue through the end May. Lunch Menus for CPMS can be found on the district website at www.dist159.com.
