What does it mean to be Fiercely Committed?
South Kitsap High School has a proud tradition and history. The school originally opened in 1921, now with over 100 graduating classes! You never know where you might meet fellow Wolf Alumni. Ask your teachers, many of them graduated from SKHS too! You belong to a pack that is worldwide and follow in the tracks of some famous and accomplished people. (It's true! Research it!)
We will support and encourage you to be "Fiercely Committed to the Pack" this school year!
Get Involved!
There are tons of opportunities to be involved in clubs, sports, music, drama and other extra curricular activities outside the classroom at SK High. Show up and take a chance! You might meet your next best friend, star in the musical, have opportunities to travel, volunteer and help your community, qualify for scholarships, build your resume and you'll be certain to make memories that will last a lifetime.
ASB
SK's Associated Student Body (ASB) is here to fundraise, plan and organize many of the fun events that happen during the school year. Homecoming, Tolo, Pep Assemblies, Talent Show, SK Crowned and more. ASB is a leadership class and each grade level votes for their own student council representatives each year. Freshmen Elections begin in September. Ask about how to run during Freshman Orientation! ASB Council Meetings are every other Wednesday after school.
Look up your class reps here: https://skhs.skschools.org/activities/asb-student-council
Students who participate in extra-curricular activities are visible representatives of their team, club, school and community. They are expected to maintain high standards of conduct during all school related travel and events, and assume responsibilities of being a positive role model.
High School Pro Tip:
- Visit the Club Fair during September once school gets rolling and find your people!
- Ask at the Athletics office about try-outs or joining a non-cut sport!
- Find out from the CTE Advisors about STEM, DECA and Skills USA events, conferences and competition opportunities!
Make this YOUR YEAR to excel and fiercely commit to the SK pack.
Career Center
Let's talk about your future! Students often say that they have "no idea" what they want to do when they leave high school. Now is your time to figure some things out.
The Career Center is right next to the DECA Student Store in the commons. Mrs. Nass and Mrs. Millet are there to help you with everything you might need moving forward, such as;
- Finding a part-time job or volunteer opportunities
- Joining the PSNS Work Study program
- Filling out your college financial aid (FAFSA)
- Helping you connect with recruiters
- Finding scholarship opportunities to help pay for your post high school plans
- Helping you fill out job applications
- Writing a resume
Stop by the Career Center to sign up for your FSA ID so you are ready to file FAFSA when it opens October 1st! You will need to know your social security number.
If you have a question, they will help you find answers and can connect you to the right people.
It's Your Future Fair
Need more ideas? Join us on Thursday, October 10th in the evening for the "It's Your Future Fair" in the commons. There will be many representatives on campus, including local and national employers, military branches, colleges and universities to talk to. Plus a financial aid presentation. Get your questions answered and be inspired!
