Cougar Connect Community Edition
April 22 - May 3
Principal Arellano's Post
Greetings Cougar Nation,
We've successfully wrapped up our state testing for this year, except for a few makeup tests. A huge thank you to all the families who worked with us to ensure their students were here and on time for these important assessments. State testing was just the first step in our end-of-year assessment schedule.
Next up, our K-5 students will be taking the end-of-year DIBELS assessments, while our 2-5 graders will be taking the STAR/MAPS assessments. These are local assessments that give us important information to guide our teaching decisions and help us make recommendations for summer school, if needed. Your continued support in ensuring your child is present and punctual at school is greatly appreciated. Every minute of instruction counts as we work to equip our students with the skills they need for the next grade level.
Please take a moment to read through the Community Connect newsletter for all the latest updates and events. Our Spring Showcase is happening this week, and we'd love to see you there to join in the fun! Don't forget, we're also celebrating our school's 50th birthday.
Thank you for partnering with us in your child's education. Together, we can make sure they have every opportunity to succeed.
Principal Arellano

New Kiss and Go Pickup Procedures
Starting the week of 12/11 changes will be coming to the kiss and go pick-up lanes in the afternoon. To help with the flow of traffic in the community on Defoe Ave. and Caballero Ave. We ask that parents/ guardians not park on the south side sidewalk of the kiss and go parking lot. We will be using the area along the sidewalk as the line for overflow pick-up cars. Attached is a map of kiss and go parking lot.
-The yellow is the flow of the kiss and go lanes
-The red will be a no parking zone
-The blue will be for the overflow of cars waiting to enter the kiss and go parking lot
For the safety of the kids please do not have kids cross the kiss and go exit to load into the cars waiting in overflow. Please pull up to the yellow line in the parking lot to pick up your up students. Please be patient. When leaving kiss and go it is prohibited to turn left.
