24-25 Builta Back to School Notes

This summer there has been a lot happening at Builta School.

• Vinyl flooring was installed throughout the entire building.
• Classrooms and door frames were painted.
• The front circle drive and front sidewalk were replaced.
• Landscaping was completed in the front of the building.

In addition, Mrs. Sauders, the health office assistant, has moved on to a position outside of the district. We wish Mrs. Sauders the best in her new job. In July, we welcomed Mrs. Colleen Hamilton as our new health office assistant. Some of our families may remember Mrs. Hamilton as she was Builta's former health office assistant as well as a dedicated building substitute.

The building has re-opened. Summer office hours are Monday-Thursday from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. In addition, you can contact the office at 630-226-4400 with any questions.

As you review the notes below, please make note of the following information.

• Due to the construction that occurred this summer, teachers will need additional time to finish setting up their classrooms for the year. During the August 19 Meet and Greet, all teachers will be housed in the gym. We will have a fun scavenger hunt to give students a chance to explore the building. When students complete their scavenger hunt and turn in their sheet they will receive a fun prize.
  
• On the first day of school (August 22), kindergarten students will attend school for the entire school day (9:05-3:35). This is a district wide change for kindergarten. All students (kdg-5th) will have a full day of school on August 22.
• Lunch/Recess time periods have changed. (See the schedule below.)

Teacher assignments will be posted in Parentvue on August 12. Parents will need to log into Parentvue to see their child's assigned teacher. Please remember that only parents who have fully registered their child for school will be able to see the teacher who is assigned. Find Teacher Assignment If you have not yet completed your child's registration, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible through Parentvue.

The school looks awesome! We are eager to welcome our students and families back into the building in August. The theme for this school year is "Let the Adventure Begin". We are excited for the many new adventures this school year has to bring.

On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday the first bell rings at 8:50 a.m. Dismissal is at 3:35 p.m.

Wednesday: 9:15-3:35

On Wednesday, the day begins 10 minutes later. The first bell rings at 9:00 a.m. Dismissal is at 3:35 p.m.

**Please remember that students need to be in the classroom by 9:15 am to be counted as arriving at school on time.

• 11:00-11:30

Incoming kindergarten students and parents have the opportunity to experience eating a snack in the lunchroom and visiting the playground for "recess" while meeting other kindergarten families. Please enter through Door #2 to head to the lunchroom

New Family Self-Guided Tour Night

• 6:30 pm - 7:15 pm

New students and their families are welcome to visit the school and see where everything is located. Ms. Morgan and the office staff will be available for any questions.

Meet and Greet: 8:30-9:00 (Kdg-5th)

• Please note that Meet and Greet will look a little different this August. Due to the construction, teachers will need some extra time to get their learning spaces ready for students.
• During Teacher Meet and Greet, students and families will go to their children's classroom location to meet the teacher, drop off school supplies on a rolling cart outside of the room and participate in a mini-scavenger hunt. The rooms will not be open on this day.

Please bring your child's dismissal plan with you. There is a copy of the dismissal plan at the end of this newsletter.

If the registration process has not been completed families will not be able to see their child's room assignment.

**Kindergarten teachers will hold Kindergarten Orientation on August 19 in the evening. During Kindergarten Orientation, students and their families will have a special program with their kindergarten teachers where they will learn about the typical day in kindergarten.

School Supply Drop Off Night is an opportunity:

• For families who cannot make it to the daytime Meet and Greet.

• If your child would like another chance to visit the building before school begins.

August 22

First Day of School (All Students-Kindergarten-Fifth Grade will attend a full day of school.)

• On this day, kindergarten-fifth grade students and their families will line up with their teachers behind the school on the blacktop for the pledge and school song. August 22 is a whole day of school for kindergarten through fifth grade families.

• On the second day of school (August 23) regular morning routines will begin. The first bell rings and doors open at 8:50 am for students to enter the building.

The Right At School Program provides before and after care at Builta School.
