Beverly Cleary Connection
October 18, 2024
A Note from Principal Presley
This week, teachers submitted their goals for their students and professionally. It was a definite highlight; their commitment to high expectations and deep love is admirable, and I'm grateful to work alongside them. On Tuesday, PTA met and talked about how best to communicate with families, the upcoming Spookarama (can't believe it's already next week), fundraising efforts, and how to support both parts of the acronym (parents and teachers). Wednesday was our monthly Site Council meeting. Teams from the school shared updates, and we brainstormed ways in which we could tell the story of all of the things going on behind the scenes with intentionality here at school. Stay tuned for more! Thursday, our school practiced both an earthquake and fire drill with efficiency. As a heads up, next Wednesday is an early release day for students with a 12:45 PM dismissal time. Staff will spend the afternoon engaging in new learning about the science curriculum (K-5) and planning for advisory and the What I Need block (6-8). We are grateful for your flexibility that allows us to make this a reality!
As we close out the week, I can't help but reflect on this community. Who knew it was possible to enjoy every day more than the one before! I said it in my bulletin to staff but would be remiss to not say it here, too- this place sure is a special place. I hope you enjoy the changing colors of the leaves and crisp air this weekend!

Restorative Justice Support
"Restorative justice is a philosophy grounded in the belief that positive, healthy relationships help us thrive. When we do things that impact others and create harm to those relationships, it is our individual and collective responsibility to make things right. Restorative justice is about building, maintaining, and repairing relationships to form healthy, supportive, reflective, and inclusive communities. Restorative justice supports schools to maintain those healthy relationships and encourages equitable access to culturally relevant and meaningful education."
