MESSAGE FROM DR. PAPA
In the month of February, we reached the 100th Day of School milestone! Our first grade dressed up as if they were 100 years old, while the rest of the school community dressed in a decade of their choice. I had the honor of receiving not one, but two pies in the face as a result of reaching our school fundraising goal for the Wiz Fit Challenge. I want to thank our JCPTA for their hard work and for all of our students' outstanding participation in this exciting fundraiser. Our school community enjoyed fun Valentine's Day parties in every grade level. A huge shout-out to our JCPTA and our class parents for making the parties an enjoyable experience for our students. Additionally, I want to recognize Mrs. Carbone for an excellent Wellness Week. She inspired our staff and students to make healthy choices not only during that week but in the weeks and months to come.
With the month of February being designated as Black History Month, our students learned about many authors, musicians, athletes, politicians, and activists who made an impact on American history and society.
We are kicking off the month of March with Read Across America Week! We have many exciting activities planned to inspire a love for reading within our students. From guest readers to making bookmarks to our reading train, our students are in for a great week of inspiring activities.
We are looking forward to many exciting events coming up for our school community in March. I hope you have a great day. Thank you for all of your support.

KIDS CAN "CHANGE" THE WORLD
It all started when our teacher (Mrs. Gesek) was scrolling on Instagram and saw a post about Blankets of Hope. She thought it would be a great idea to help out homeless people. We participated in a kindness workshop and wrapped blankets with letters of hope to give out to homeless people. Once we finished, we wanted to help out more! This is why we are doing the fundraiser called “Kids can ’Change’ the world.”
Market Street Mission is a program that is for homeless men and they provide everyday essentials for them. One of our classmates saw a man who was from Market Street Mission in the church. He was going to come to our class to collect our blankets and give it to homeless men in Newton where he works. After that, Dr. Papa came in and gave us pep talk and gave us the green light to start Kids Can “CHANGE” the World. - Written by Mrs. Gesek's students
CLASSROOM HIGHLIGHTS
Every month we will highlight one grade level, one specialist, and one special education classroom to showcase the great things happening here at Arthur Stanlick inside of our classrooms.
THIRD GRADE HIGHLIGHTS
On Thursday, February 27th, our third-grade teachers hosted a Math Carnival for their students. This creative event provided students with the opportunity to review all they have learned throughout the school year with their families and friends. The games at each station represented various math skills learned over the course of the school year, such as rounding, fractions, addition, subtraction, and multiplication. The students earned tickets and were able to select prizes which demonstrates all they have learned and accomplished this school year. The third-grade teachers are commended for creating a truly authentic learning experience for their students.
SPOTLIGHT CLASSROOM: MS. PANKA
SPECIALIST FOCUS: MR. GONZALEZ - WORLD LANGUAGE
¡Feliz Día de San Valentín! In our Spanish class, we had a wonderful time celebrating Valentine’s Day this month by getting creative and practicing our Spanish skills. Students made beautiful tarjetas de San Valentín (Valentine's Day cards) to share with their friends and loved ones. Students designed colorful and thoughtful messages for their cards, all while learning new Spanish vocabulary related to love, friendship, and kindness. It was a fun way to express cariño (affection) in Spanish! The third-grade students had an extra special activity! They made atrapa-cucarachas (also known as Valentine’s Day cootie catchers) to play with their friends. These fun paper games were a great way to practice numbers, colors, and some fun phrases in Spanish. Everyone enjoyed a little friendly competition while learning new Spanish words!
MRS. CARBONE'S MAKE HEALTHY HABITS A PRIORITY
Wellness week was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who participated in the activities. Students had the opportunity to learn about a variety of health topics through morning announcements, daily trivia, journaling, and a MyPlate lesson taught by Ms. Nimmo during P.E. Congratulations to Mrs. Autrey, Mrs. Diaz, Mrs. Novembrino, Mrs. Caruso, and Mrs. Tarabocchia’s classes on winning the trivia challenge. They will get to enjoy an extra period of recess! Students also enjoyed a visit from Dr. Harte (harteorthodontics.com). Dr. Harte’s humorous approach to oral hygiene education had all of the staff and students laughing. Cavities can be painful, not to mention expensive to treat, and they are a leading cause of missed school. Prevention is best! Brushing and flossing at least twice a day is one of the easiest ways to help prevent cavities. Regularly scheduled dental cleanings every 6 months allows for early detection of cavities and other oral cavity problems that might arise.
Happy Brushing!!!!
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns!

LEGO CLUB
Ms. Ivakhiv is leading our 3rd & 4th grade students in various Lego challenges each week. The first week, the students were challenged to build their favorite emoji out of Legos. The students are enjoying their time during Lego club and are looking forward to more Lego challenges in the coming weeks.
