The Westwood Board of Education has worked hard at finding the needs to the district for the next 20 years. Safety and security are the #1 goal. A committee is taking around a petition for signatures. Those signatures go to the board to place this on the ballot for the November election. This petition drive is not a vote yes or no, but a step in the process of getting it on the ballot.
Bond language:
Shall the Board of Directors of the Westwood Community School District in the Counties of Monona and Woodbury, State of Iowa, be authorized to contract indebtedness and issue General Obligation Bonds in an amount not to exceed $18,600,000 to provide funds to construct, furnish, and equip additions to the school building, including but not limited to a secure entryway; to repair, improve, remodel, and equip the school building, including but not limited to educational and common areas, and fire alarm/sprinkler upgrades; to construct and furnish a transportation facility; and to improve the school building site.
