Alternative Education families,

We are fast approaching the end of the year! Our Seniors are busy making graduation plans and studying for finals. All of our students have been working very hard to finish the year off strong! We have had a busy week in Alternative Education! We spent this past week celebrating our awesome teaching staff for Teacher Appreciation Week, students were busy helping with campus space redesign, numerous community building activities were taking place… the list goes on!

Class of 2024:

We are very excited to celebrate the incredible achievements of our graduating Senior class, representing so many cultures, languages, and dreams. To honor the wealth of our diverse community, we would love to WELCOME our guests in as many languages as possible representing all of the families in our Alt ed community during our graduation ceremony. If you are a graduate, please let us know what language you would like to welcome your family and friends in!

Venture- Sunday, June 2nd

It is especially important that Seniors adhere to these timeline so teachers have time to grade and determine graduation status. Finals will be done the last week of school.

Don’t forget all of the activities planned, Senior breakfast and MANDATORY graduation rehearsal- Tuesday June 4th at 3:30 pm DVHS Theater. You can turn in your chromebooks at this time.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ+) Pride Month

San Ramon Valley Unified School District recognizes the month of June as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ+) Pride Month. SRVUSD models, advocates and actively supports the inclusive and respectful treatment of all students, employees, family members, and community members. Lack of awareness and understanding of issues facing LGBTQ+ youth has contributed to high rates of school dropout, academic failure, school disengagement, and self-harm. June is a time to celebrate our dynamic LGBTQ+ community, raise awareness of services, and foster dialogue to promote healthy, safe, and fulfilling school climates for all. Flying the progress pride flag at the District office and all District sites during the month of June symbolizes the celebration of diversity and support for the LGBTQ+ community.

Last Tuesday, we presented our updated student Responsible Use Agreements for grades TK-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 to the Board of Education. These agreements guide student digital behaviors when using technology during instruction in classrooms and beyond. The updates include language for emerging technologies, like Artificial Intelligence. RUAs are signed by families during school registration, and they should be reviewed with students throughout the year so they are aware of the agreements that help develop responsible digital citizenship skills. You may wish to link these into your syllabi and review them at the start of the year and periodically throughout the year as needed.

Dear Parents/Caregivers:

It’s hard to believe the 2023-24 school year is nearly finished! Before the school year ends, we want to share some important information with you regarding our yearly request to review, update and acknowledge important information in preparation for the next school year. We require that all families complete this very important online Annual Update as it is your primary means of providing updated emergency contact information should we need to reach you in the event of an emergency. This information is vital to the safety of your student(s)!

The Annual Update is required, and serves many purposes for families, schools, and the district.

• Emergency contact information
• Parent decision of how your child’s student directory information can be shared
• Notification of Parent Rights and Responsibilities
• New policies on Student devices and technology
• Student device fees and insurance and use agreements
• Eligibility for educational benefits

We will be opening up the link to complete this year’s Annual Update by feeder pattern beginning on July 15th.

You will receive an email with additional information and instructions as these dates approach. Families will receive weekly email reminders to complete the Annual Update as it is a mandatory task to ensure student safety. All families should complete it by August 9th.

A Back to School webpage has been created as a resource to our parents and caregivers. It contains valuable information and resources in preparation for the 2024-25 school year including Annual Update information. The page will be updated regularly to house all pertinent details about returning to school on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
