Change of usage from September
Dear Parents and Carers,
Re: Change of Car Park Usage During the School Day from September 2024
I am writing to inform you of an important change regarding the use of our school car park.
Effective from September 2024, the school car park will no longer be accessible to parents, carers or the public during school days, from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. A car park barrier is being installed over the summer holidays to restrict access to staff only during these times. This decision has been made for safeguarding reasons. Unfortunately, over the course of last year, there have been several near misses with cars almost hitting students entering or exiting the car park. The safety of our students is our utmost priority, and we believe this measure is necessary to prevent any potential accidents.
We understand that this change may cause some inconvenience, and we appreciate your cooperation in ensuring the safety of all our students. If you must use a car to drop off or pick up your children, then we suggest you fully consider before September exactly when and where you will drop or collect your child. As you know Percy Road becomes congested due to the lights at the end of Hospital Bridge Road.
1. Parking Bays Opposite the School: Please utilise the parking bays located directly opposite the school although these spaces are limited (roughly 6 spaces).
2. Dropping Off at a Distance: If you must use a car to drop off or pick up your children, we encourage you to do so at a further distance from the school and have your children walk the short distance from your chosen parking spot and the school.
3. Encourage students to use public transport, cycle or walk to school. These methods reduce congestion, contribute to a greener and more sustainable environment and also foster greater independence in our young people.
These changes will significantly enhance the safety and well-being of our students. Your support and understanding are appreciated.
