SUB on Thursday UPDATE
I wanted to update you on how the class did with the substitute on Thursday. While many students worked quietly and focused on their work—the quietest the substitute has ever remembered—there were some behavior concerns.
Some students claimed to have finished their Lexia minutes/units when they had not, while others engaged in chair-kicking, excessive tattling, making noises, and not following directions. Additionally, some students wrote or said things that were not appropriate for school.
Despite these challenges, the class did earn every “X” towards their mystery motivator. However, based on the substitute’s report, they did not meet the expectations to earn a “no spelling test” reward. The spelling test over last week’s words will now be given on Monday. The mystery motivator they did earn will also be revealed then.
Please take a moment to remind your child about the importance of listening, being respectful, and making good choices, even when a substitute is in the classroom. Thank you for your continued support!

Shoes & Noses
As we race toward the finish line of 3rd grade, there are a few important life skills that could use some extra practice at home—because let’s be honest, untied shoes and sniffly noses are becoming quite the theme in our classroom!
👟 Shoe-Tying 101 – Some students are still mastering the art of tying their shoes (and double-knotting them so they don’t unravel five minutes later). Please take some time to help your child practice this essential skill. Not only will it keep them safe, but it will also save them from tripping over their own laces in the middle of a math lesson!
🤧 The Nose-Blowing Dilemma – We’ve had a lot of stuffy, runny noses lately, and it has become clear that some students aren’t quite sure how to properly blow their noses. Many are just wiping (and wiping… and wiping…) or constantly sniffing instead of clearing things out completely. A quick refresher at home on how to use a tissue effectively would be a huge help!
🚫 The “Not for Eating” Rule – We also have a few friends who are, let’s just say, exploring the world in ways that aren’t exactly sanitary. Picking and eating things that shouldn’t be eaten (IYKYK) is not a habit we want to encourage. A gentle reminder at home about what belongs in our bodies and what doesn’t would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your help in reinforcing these important skills—it truly makes a difference in keeping our classroom happy, healthy, and distraction-free!
