President's Comments
March Employees of the Month
- Michelle Yount is the Certified Staff Employee of the Month. She is a science teacher at MHS and has been with the district for 27 years.
- John Gaug is the Support Staff Employee of the Month. John is a computer technician with the district technology department, and this is his first year with the district.
School Board Recognition
March is National School Board Recognition Month. Items of appreciation were presented to the Board of Education from the buildings.
District Donations
- True donated $1,000.00 to the Special Olympics and the Inclusion Revolution.
- Mark and Dianne Buffington donated $30.00 to the Special Olympics and Inclusion Revolution.
- Lois and Jim Curtis donated fabrics, books and sewing notions to the sewing program with an estimated value of over $300.
Consent Agenda: Items of Interest
Items approved in Consent Agenda
- Approval of Summer School. The board approved the Summer Learning 2024 Request presented by Dr. Miles. Summer School will be held on June 3 - June 28 for grade levels K-12. More information available here.
- Approval of the DocuSign Renewal.
- Approval of the Agreement between Partners for Rural Impact (PRI) and Mexico School District. This Sub Award will provide up to $50,000 to the school district to provide programming that supports: kindergarten readiness, early literacy, middle school math, HS students graduating college/career/military ready, postsecondary supports, and all students being safe, healthy, and supported. We can work with your team to build out a plan—I know there was a strong interest in summer kindergarten supports, family engagement and transportation needs.
- Approval of the Perkins Innovation and Modernization Grant Agreement between Mexico School District #59 and Partners for Rural Impact. This approval authorizes PRI to implement the PIM grant and move that work forward.
- Agreement between Partners for Rural Impact and Mexico School District #59. This approval formalizes the relationship between the Mexico Schools and PRI to execute the FSCS grant.
- Approval of the MFA Oil leased equipment Agreement. The district's fuel provider is MFA Oil. (The fuel bid was approved August 15, 2023.) MFA is updating their records. The district has two MFA Oil tanks on our account.
- Approval of the Mizzou Therapy Services Agreement.
- Approval of the Window Security Film Bid. The vote approves Robnett Graphic & Tint's bid for the Security Film bid, the primary bid. Three bids were received. The materials for the project will be paid for out of the School Safety Grant that the district received.
- Approval of the Terms and Conditions for Contractor Receipt of Federal ARPA SFRF Funds. This exhibit was included in our packet mailed to us by the Department of Social Services for the Get the lead out of School Drinking Water. The contract for Get the Lead Out of School Drinking Water was approved on February 20, 2024. This document was approved.

Unfinished Business
- Approved the AIA contract and Addendums with Grayco Consultant and All Seasons Roofing (ASR). Due to the hail storm we had several months ago, we have several roofs that need to be repaired. Our insurance will be covering the costs, but the Board of Education will need to approve the attached contracts in order to begin the needed repairs. (Attachments are included in the board agenda.)

Personnel
- The board approved the hiring of several individuals.
- Informational personnel items were also offered to the Board. These items do not require board action.
- Approved the Rehire of the listed Certified Staff going-on-to-tenure for the 2024-2025 School Year. Recommendations are made by Principals and the Director of Human Resources.
- Approved the rehire of the listed probationary Certified Staff for the 2024-2025 School Year. Recommendations are made by Principals and the Director of Human Resources.
- Approved the rehire of the listed professional Staff for the 2024-2025 School Year. Recommendations are made by Principals and the Director of Human Resources.
CSIP: 2024-25 Budget
- Annual Budget Presentation. Mrs. Norris will discuss the 2024-2025 Budget documents with the Board of Education. BOE FY25 Budget Revisions Document.
- Approval of the Health Benefits as presented and a rate of $664.70 per month per employee that qualifies for health benefits for the 2024-2025 school year. The district health insurance options will continue to be district-paid. There is an 8.5% increase in the health insurance monthly premium for the 2024-2025 school year. The rates are the same across the board. Dental and vision rates were presented as well.
- Approval of the 2024-2025 Administrator Salaries and Contracts. The list is included in the board agenda. Administrators received approximately a 3.5% increase, which is consistent with the increases over the last few years.
- Approval of the 2024-25 Teacher's Salary Schedule, adding $1,000.00 to the base and advancing returning certified staff a step on the schedule. The starting salary will be $42,000. The approval of this schedule and base increase will keep Mexico competitive as the highest paid school in our local area and in our conference, with the exception of Kirksville.
