November 2024
A Time for Gratitude
As we enter the month of November, a time often reserved for reflection and thankfulness, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you—our incredible parents and families.
This year, particularly with our focus on early reading, has shown us the power of community and the unwavering dedication it takes to support our students in an online learning environment. I am truly thankful for the way you balance the roles of both parent and teacher, guiding your children through challenges, celebrating their triumphs, and offering consistent encouragement. Your commitment to their education does not go unnoticed.
Thank you for being the unsung heroes in your children’s educational journey. Your involvement makes all the difference, and we are deeply grateful to partner with you in shaping bright, resilient learners.
Wishing you all a wonderful month filled with warmth, reflection, and gratitude.

Grading and Keeping Track of Progress
At this time Elementary only issues a report card at the end of the school year. We expect to change this practice for next year by adding a report card, mid year, in January. In order for LCs to monitor their learners progress they will need to frequently check their learners schedule and plan.
You can go through the Learning Coach Landing page:
Or go through your student's Landing Page:
https://stride.widen.net/s/jcmqmvkwxt/engage_k5ols_ols-courses-plan-page
Please note that teachers will be marking overdue lessons with a ZERO at the end of each month moving forward. Your student will still be able to go back and complete any missing work even if it is marked as a ZERO.
If your student has excessive overdues, please schedule a time to meet with your teacher to develop a plan of support.
Certain assignments are not graded, and therefore they are not required: Stride Skills, Art, Music and PE/Health are not required classes so if these are part of the overdues and your student is not completing these you can mark them as completed and they will be removed from the overdue list.
