Principal's Message
May 2024
Dear Families,
Happy Monday and Happy Mother's Day to all of you amazing mamas who show up for your children each day with the compassion and care of a saint and the grit of a soldier. Being a mother is by far one of the most rewarding and most challenging jobs out there. The love and energy that you pour into raising your children to become the best versions of themselves is inspiring.
As we head into the final stretch of the year, there are lots of details to keep track of. Please see these outlined below and get them on your calendars so you don't miss out on any of the fun! First up on the list is our annual Jog-a-Thon event on this Friday. This year we will bringing the extra fun by including a bubble machine! I am looking forward to the potential of taking a dip in a dunk tank if we can raise $12,000. As a reminder, all of these funds go directly back to supporting our students and families with various events and activities over the year. Thank you, in advance, for your contribution to our wonderful school.
Speaking of our fantastic PTA, you will see below that all positions for PTA leadership are open for the coming year. We hope you will consider joining this amazing team of fellow parents and staff. The more families we have involved, the better able we are to create lasting memories for our students. As we look ahead to next year, we will be asking 2-3 parents per classroom to sign up to be a "Room Parent" where you help to coordinate volunteer opportunities and act as a communication liaison between the PTA and other parents in your classrooms. More on all of that coming next fall!
On one final note, I wanted to update everyone on a dip in our attendance recently...as a school we are sitting at 69% regular attenders. Our 2nd and 3rd grades are fairing the best with 73% and 1st grades are sitting the lowest at 61%. Let's all work together to finish the year strong and get the school-wide rate back up to the mid-70 range. Together, we can do it!!
That's it for now! May this week bring you sunshine and happiness!
💚Ms. Lowe
Proud Principal, TES
Foamtastic Jog-A-Thon May 17th!
This Friday!!!!!
We hope by now your student has brought home information about our one and only fundraiser. This year it's bigger and better than ever! If we reach our $12,000 goal, Ms. Lowe has agreed to go in the dunk tank and we bet a few other teachers will too. The student who raises the most money will get to be Principal for the day on June 5th which means they can go into the dunk tank (if they want of course). Turn those pledges/donations in by June 3rd, here's a list of prizes and incentives...
- Any $10.00 donation raised receives a rubber duck keychain (we've already given out a few)
- Any $25.00 donation receives a raffle ticket to win a bike & helmet
- Class with highest amount raised receives a quick walking to trip to Rays for an ice cream
- Top 10 students with most laps receives an extra hour at field day (June 6th)
- Top student earner will be Principal for the day on June 5th
- If we reach $6,000 goal extra recess for the school
- If we reach $8,000 goal Otter pops at lunch on June 7th
- If we reach $12,000 Ms. Lowe in the dunk tank!!!!!!! Let's do this!
Please note, we will not be using the electronic lap counter this year, students will have volunteers mark their laps as they go by. Volunteers are always needed, please call the office if you can help.
The FOAM FUN begins at 1:10....Join Us!
Morning Drop Off Traffic Flow
Families, a quick safety reminder...when dropping off your student curbside, we ask that you ONLY enter from Schoolhouse Rd. Please pull as far as forward and have your student exit quickly so the next car can move up. We ask that you do not pass cars or exit your car. If you want to spend more time wishing your student a great day or give that extra hug, please park your car in the lot. We are seeing quite a few close calls and certainly don't want any accidents or injuries.
*Remember the front of the school is reserved for bus and emergency vehicle parking only.

The Radical Radish
Rogue Valley Farm 2 School volunteers will be here March 16th. This month, we are exploring a variety of different radishes at the cafeteria tasting table. Learn more about radishes by checking out this fun interactive sheet (Spanish version). There you'll find recipes, videos, nutritional info, kids activities - including how to grow your own radishes at home, and information about the local farms where the veggies were grown!

By the way, the school that has the highest percentage of returning students registered before June...that school's office staff (Cheryl & Alma) will get an extra-long lunch and office takeover by our District Office staff. We love a little competition 🤣

Family Engagement & Art Show
Tuesday, June 4th
Join your student's teacher as they showcase learning goals & achievements. We can't wait to Show What They Know to You. An added bonus of attending is viewing student art in the gym. This is a favorite event for the staff; our students are truly gifted. Second added bonus is gift baskets will be up for raffle to those who attend. Don't miss out!
