May is traditionally BUSY on a school campus and we want to be sure you are all well informed. Please read through this newsletter and all newsletters this month to be in the know.

Testing is tomorrow!! If you missed a test last week, you will be participating in make up testing this week. Our goal is 100% completion rate!

We dismiss from school at 1:28 on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

We dismiss at 11:38 on Wednesday (Common Planning Schedule, student can stay for lunch)

There are NO clubs on testing days and no tutoring but we will have detention open. We need everyone to come with a charged chromebook.

Wednesday we will celebrate school wide with our annual Star Wars Themed Celebration. Students are invited to come dressed in Star Wars t-shirts if they choose. Light sabers are welcome but keep your blasters at home!

Students should double check the various invite lists in our lobby window as the events get closer. However, all students will receive a promotion certificate. The spelling of their name should be verified by students from our posted list in the lobby.

Parent club is sponsoring our 8th grade field trip to Micke Grove where we will enjoy a BBQ, DJ, games, the zoo, and more. We might even add fishing! (catch and release) Details on that to come!

This is a free event for those that are eligible to participate. Transportation and lunch is provided. Permission slips are required and were sent home on Thursday. They are due on May 8th.

8th grade Awards Night is on May 21st at 6:00 pm. Students receiving an award will be invited by May 10th. This event is held across the way, at First Baptist Church.

8th Grade Dance is on May 23rd. Tickets are FREE and will be passed out at lunch on May 21 and 22. Students voted on the time and theme: our dance is 5:30-7:30 and the theme is Hollywood!

8th grade promotion is on May 31st at 8:30am. Students need to arrive by 8:00 and report to the MPR. Our gates will open at 7:45 for parents. No tickets are required!

• Students should plan to dress nice for this event. We will talk more about this with students.
• Students may not wear leis or capes and they may not carry flowers or gifts during the promotion.
• Students must have a 1.5 GPA and have met the behavior requirement in order to participate.
• Strapless dresses will not be allowed.
• Promotion practice is Wednesday and Thursday, May 29th and 30th. This is mandatory, if students miss practice they will be excluded from promotion.

Balloons and signs are not allowed in the gate, we will kindly ask you to keep them in your car and you can gift them after the ceremony. This allows everyone to see the event much easier!

May 8th from 4-8PM

Yearbooks will be distributed on Friday May 24th at the end of the day. Students are invited to stick around for a yearbook signing party. We will have music and a snack. This will wrap up by 2:45. (Forgot to order? A few may be available for purchase the following week.)

*Students with a 1.5 GPA and no suspensions are eligible to participate in the promotion ceremony. Plan ahead: no balloons or signs in the audience at promotion. Students may not wear leis or carry gifts/flowers during promotion.
