Dear NSD Families:
I want to update you on some changes in how we will be communicating elementary student achievement this year. In place of scheduled progress reports, our goal is to shift to more regular and meaningful communication with families throughout the year. Here’s what you can expect:
- T1 Reporting Conference: This will provide opportunities for face-to-face discussions about your child's achievement, allowing for more personalized and immediate feedback. Please note that a progress report will only be sent home If you are unable to attend an in-person or phone conference. There will be no T1 Report Card.
- T2 and T3 Report Cards
- Sharing of Assessments: We will share all assessments given throughout the year, offering you detailed insights into your child's academic performance.
- Literacy Achievement Reports: Information on your child's literacy achievement will be shared regularly, based on data from our district assessments, ensuring you are aware of their development in this critical area.
- Intervention and Progress Updates: If your child needs additional support, we will keep you informed about any interventions in place and the progress they are making.
- Behavior Concerns: If any behavior concerns arise, we will communicate with you throughout the year, ensuring that any issues are addressed promptly and collaboratively.
This approach allows for more timely and targeted communication, ensuring that families are well-informed about their child's achievement and well-being throughout the year rather than waiting for scheduled progress reports. We believe this will create a stronger partnership between school and home, ultimately supporting your child's success.

Transportation Update
We are thrilled to announce that our bus information is now ready to be integrated with the First Student Tracking application FirstView® Classic
This integration allows you to track your child’s bus in real-time, providing you with up-to-date information on arrival times and any delays. Here’s how it works:
- Live Tracking: The FirstView® Classic map screen shows you the live location and direction of your student’s bus, stop schedule for the current day, and timestamps for school arrivals and departures. You’ll know when the bus gets to school in the morning and leaves in the afternoon.
- Predictive Stop Arrival Times: Analyzing route and real-time GPS data, it determines an estimated time of arrival to your stop.
- Custom Alerts and Messages: Set up push or email notifications alerting you when your student's bus is a chosen distance or number of minutes away from your stop.
- Ability to Track Multiple Students
- Additional User Notifications: Connect up to 3 additional emails to receive alerts.
- Dedicated Customer Support: Contact FirstView® Classic Monday-Friday (support provided in English only):
- Call (888) 889-8920 toll free from 7:00am – 5:00pm
- Email support@firstviewapp.com
- Use the in-app button
To get started, simply download the First Student Classic Tracking app from your app store, create an account, and link it to your child's bus route using the provided information.
Getting Started:
The Getting Started Guide attached below provides guidance on downloading the app, setting up your profile, adding your student(s) and their route(s), and more.
IMPORTANT: The Getting Starting Guide contains the Nashua School District code required for registration.
FirstView® is available as an app for both Apple and Android devices. It is also available in an online browser version for your desktop computer – convenient for working parents.

McCarthy Middle School Dedication Ceremony
On October 10, 2024, the Brian S. McCarthy Middle School Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held. Principal Katrina Esparza hosted the event with the McCarthy Middle School band and chorus performing for attendees. Student Valentina Angelou sang a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem. Principal Esparza addressed representatives from the Board of Education, the Board of Alderman, Harriman Associates, Harvey Construction, the McCarthy family, and the school district.
Dr. Esparza shared that "This building is not just walls and classrooms; it represents the dreams and aspirations of our students, the dedication of our educators, and the support of our families. Together, we will be a collaborative, respectful, and empathetic community laying the foundation for our students to become responsible citizens and engaged members of Nashua."
