PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Is it hot enough for ya? This week was blazing in more than one way. Sure the weather is hot, but with some A/C and some recess cooling options, such as classrooms or the gymnasium JMMS was able to endure the stifling late summer heat. The campus is blazing in other ways as well. Students are working to complete their i-Ready diagnostics, student elections for School Site Council and ASB Officers are underway and we are eager to see the results.
Grab yourself a cool beverage, sit in front of the fan, and enjoy this latest edition of the Dust Devil Weekly!
JMMS ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
Once again this school year we will be focused on improving school wide attendance at JMMS! Each week we will report out our daily attendance rates. Our goal is to be above 96% each day...we can do it!
Tuesday 9/3: 97.74%
Wednesday 9/4: 95.99%
Thursday 9/5: 94.74%
Friday 9/6: 91.98%
At our last Leadership morning 6th grade won the grade level with the highest attendance rate for the past two weeks! And the following students were awarded Perfect Attendance Recognition:
Seth Bauers
Ryan Bogajczyk
Anabella Jaimes
Gage Matheson
Raina Sandoval
Spotted on Campus...
- Ms. Zarick's math class on a math scavenger hunt! A fun way to keep students engaged!
ASB NEEDS YOUR HELP!
ASB is asking for donations of candy to give out to students as Spirit Day participation rewards! We like to reward our Dust Devils for showing school spirit and #dustdevilpride during our Spirit Week. Please send in any donations of bags of candy to the front office and we will make sure that they get to Mrs. Tompkins and the ASB class! Thank you in advance for your support of JMMS!
Quick Reminder....NO Blankets on Campus!
Just a reminder that students should not be bringing blankets on campus...especially in 100 degree weather! They are a distraction in the classroom and we want our kids focused on learning. Please remind your students to leave the blankies at home! Thanks!
Chromebook Reminder!
As we begin the year, it is important to remind your student that they need to have their Chromebook each day charged and in their backpack. While we know that we want our middle schoolers to work on becoming more independent, we also know that it takes time. So, as they work to develop these skills, please help them by giving them reminders nightly to charge their Chromebooks and then to put it in their backpack in the morning. Thanks for your continued support!
SCHOOL CAFE FORM
Please take a moment and fill out your School Cafe form BEFORE you come to Dust Devil Day! This will help save time when you arrive. This form helps us secure funding for JMMS that goes directly to our students. You can the link to SCHOOL CAFE by using the link below:
FIRST ASB SPIRIT WEEK IS THIS WEEK!
The first ASB Sponsored Spirit Week will take place September 9-13. Each day we will have a different theme and we encourage ALL students to find a way to participate. Some students will go all out head to toe while others might wear a t-shirt or socks or a hat to match the theme! Do what works for you but show your DUST DEVIL PRIDE and join in the fun!
PTA MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
Thank you to all that have already joined PTA and to those that are patiently waiting for our Membership Drive to officially begin! Here is an update...our bank account has been opened and we are waiting for our Venmo account to be linked and then we will be ready to go! So we are hoping by next week's S'more to have all of our ducks in a row and for the Dust Devil Membership Drive to be officially underway!!
