Hello CRS School Community!

December has arrived! This means we are in the thick of wintery weather and that the holiday season is not far off!

We have a few weeks of learning before the holidays arrive, however, so students and staff will be working hard to complete learning outcomes before the break. At the same time, holiday themes are likely to be popping up soon, particularly in many Art classes where students have already started on projects that will decorate our school as we approach the holidays and in Music classes where students are learning traditional Christmas Carols and other popular holiday songs.

The third annual CRS Christmas Activity Night is upcoming on Thursday, December 12th and this will be a great opportunity for families to see the holiday artwork and decorations and to engage in singing and other traditional Christmastime activities. Many families responded to the RSVP form to let us know they plan to be at the event and we are already looking forward to more than 350 school community members joining for another great turnout this year! The RSVP helps us to know how many snacks and crafts we should plan for but, even if you did not RSVP, please consider stopping by the school between 6:00 and 7:30 pm to enjoy an evening of camaraderie and fun. Currently, the forecast is for excellent weather so we are looking forward to an enjoyable event and hope to see you there!

Our Real-Time Reporting system allows you to stay connected to your child’s learning progress throughout the year, providing insights into their achievements and areas for growth. By regularly checking PowerSchool, you can support your child’s learning journey and celebrate their progress together. Thank you for partnering with us to foster a positive and collaborative learning experience.

We are currently offering a nutritious quick grab and go breakfast snack in the front foyer at 8:05am - 8:15am. Students will continue to the playground or boot room until the call in bell rings. There will be no early entry to the school.

What a great volleyball season we had with our Grade 5s. A big thank you to Ms. Cava and Mr. Fox for coaching!

I would like to say a huge thank you to our families for supporting our Scholastic book fair. We will be receiving more than $3300.00 worth of books towards our library collection. I know students will look forward to seeing new books in the library over the next few months. Thank you to our staff on family night, the Grade 4/5K and 5F classes with setup of the book fair, and my parents volunteering during class times. Without everyone’s help, this event wouldn’t be possible. I appreciate everyone’s efforts to help with our fundraiser.

Our Learning Commons has a new look too, as my desk and shelves have moved around. A classroom has been set up in the south end of the learning commons. It’s exciting to see how the space has transformed.

We love that you want to celebrate with your child on special occasions and are appreciative of your generosity, but we ask that no class treats be brought to school. Due to food allergies that may be present in your child's classroom we are unable to hand these treats out. If you would like to pack something special for your child on special occasions, we encourage you to add it to their lunch boxes.

The City of Camrose would like to provide an update on a couple upcoming changes to the Community Bus. Starting Tuesday, July 2nd the City will be launching a revised route AND will no longer be charging a fare.
