AUGUST 18, 2024
Hello, Dolphin Families!
We had a wonderful first week back at Donald! From arrival to lunch to dismissal, everyone did a fantastic job learning our campus procedures. Our focus at Donald is on LEVELING UP in everything we do, so we were so happy to hand out several SPLASH notes to students who were exemplars of our 6 Essential Dolphin Skills! These are character traits and actions we celebrate at Donald that make a positive SPLASH:
Self-Awareness
Perseverance
Leading in Learning
Adapting to Change
Sharing your Gifts
Honesty
Every year, teachers begin the first day of school leading students in discussions about how we can create a safe and fun learning environment for everyone in our building, and these 6 Essential Skills are at their heart of those discussions. Every SPLASH creates a ripple effect, and we are always proud to see the positive work of our Dolphins extending from school into the community!
Every week, you and your family can expect to receive an email with the Dolphin News. These newsletters will provide important reminders and information about upcoming events, but they will also contain celebrations about things happening at our school. We hope these newsletters help you to feel connected to the campus and give you an inside look at what your children are up to during the school day.
This newsletter is full of important information, so please be sure to scroll through each section. We look forward to learning with you and our Dolphins this year!

CAFETERIA OPTIONS FOR MONDAY 8/19
Since a construction crew damaged a campus gas line, our cafeteria staff has had to get creative and call in support to ensure all our students who purchase their meals in the breakfast and lunch lines get something healthy to eat. We expect the line to be fully repaired by the end of Monday, but that means we will be serving an adjusted menu during Monday meals.
Breakfast options on Monday will include:
Yogurt with Graham Gracker
Cereal
For lunch, meals will once again be prepared and packaged in the FMHS cafeteria and delivered to Donald. While we typically take lunch counts as part of morning routine to help our cafeteria staff plan how many of each item should be prepared, meals being put together off campus means there is a set amount of each item prepared, and the choices cannot be replenished once they are gone.
Lunch options on Monday will include:
Rotini with Meat Sauce
Grilled Cheese
Sun Butter and Jelly Sandwich
Turkey Sub
If your child is not prepared to eat each of the four choices above should their preferred choice(s) be out at the time of their lunch, we strongly encourage you pack a lunch for them on Monday.23/24 YEARBOOK PICKUP
Due to the unfortunate delayed arrival of our 23/24 yearbook last spring, we were unable to properly sell the extra copies. If you are interested in purchasing one, click the link below to place your order: https://www.balfour.com/texas/flower-mound/donald-elementary-school

MEET OUR COUNSELOR, MRS. RAMSEY
Hello Donald Dolphins!
My name is Mrs. Ramsey and I am very excited to be the school counselor at Donald Elementary this year. Becoming a school counselor has been a lifelong dream of mine! I received my Bachelors in Education from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene and my Masters in School Counseling from Sul Ross State University in Alpine.
I am a LISD graduate and I have been a teacher for over twenty years. Most of my teaching experience has been within LISD however I have also taught in West Texas and Australia.
I am happily married with two beautiful children. My daughter is going into seventh grade and my son is going into fifth grade. We also have two Goldendoodle dogs who we love dearly.
In my free time I love to enjoy nature, read books, knit blankets and drink coffee with friends. I look forward to getting to know each of you this year!
Visit the Donald Counseling Website to learn more!
We would love to have you volunteer in our classrooms and at extracurricular events! To get started, JOIN the Donald PTA, and then complete your yearly VOLY Background Check. All volunteers must have a current VOLY Background Check, so if it has been a while since you completed this process, check in with the Donald Office Staff to see if you're approved!
GET VOLY-APPROVED TODAY!
Lewisville ISD's volunteer site, VOLY, is up and ready for the new school year. If you plan to volunteer on campus, act as a field trip chaperone, or support our campus at any point in the 24-25 school year, please either create a VOLY account or renew your account from last year. LISD's VOLY site is Lewisvilleisd.voly.org. There is also a VOLY app that can be found in the app store on your phone.
Remember that our VOLY site allows for the site to be translated to your family's home language. Look for the language drop down button at the top of the page.
Questions? Reach out to Partnerships@Lisd.net and they will be happy to assist you!
The LISD Recognize SomeONE program gives our staff and community members the opportunity to highlight the exceptional work the do. If a Donald staff member has made an impact on your student or family this week, please take a moment to Recognize SomeONE and let them know how much they mean!
