This month the final durable skill that we are working on is PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. The Portrait of an NC Graduate is broken down into 7 durable skills that students should have before they graduate https://www.dpi.nc.gov/districts-schools/operation-polaris/portrait-graduate. We have focused on one skill each month.

Ideas to encourage PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY at home:

• Praise Effort and Progress: Acknowledge and praise your child's efforts and progress in taking responsibility for their action. Positive reinforcement can motivate them to continue demonstrating responsible behavior.
• Establish a Routine: Create a structured routine that includes time for homework and other responsibilities. Consistent routines help children develop good habits and a sense of accountability.
• Encourage Independence: Encourage your child to take on age-appropriate responsibilities and make decisions for themselves. Encourage them to solve problems independently and take initiative in completing tasks.

As we approach the end of the school year, it is important that students are here daily. Our teachers are providing a lot of rich instruction that is very valuable in your child's progress.

Perfect Attendance: No absences and less than three tardies or checkouts.

Perfect Perfect Attendance: No absences, tardies, or checkouts.

Students are recognized monthly if they qualify as a Perfect Attendance or Perfect Perfect Attendance Student.

Testing to show all the growth and knowledge that your child has learned this year is coming soon! Please put these dates in your calendar and keep in mind that ONLY sickness will be excused absences on these dates.

• K-2 mClass Reading Testing: Testing will be over the span of 3 weeks, but the following days are dates that the majority of testing will occur.
• April 29th - May 3rd
• 3-5 EOG Testing:
• Science Test (5th only) - May 17th (If your child takes their test over two days, they will test on May 20th as well.)
• Reading Test - May 21st (If your child takes their test over two days, they will test on May 22nd as well.)
• Math Test - May 23rd (If your child takes their test over two days, they will test on May 24th as well.)

We are excited to announce that we will begin a Spirit Wear Fundraiser mid-April. Keep a look out for a flyer to order shirts and sweatshirts for your family!
