The Buzz
Spring Term - 27th April 2023
Message from the Head of School
Dear Parents/Carers
We have had a super start to the summer term, with all the children settling back seamlessly into their class routines. I wanted to say a huge thank you to the SEND team (Mrs Maxted, Miss Delaney and Mrs Hughes) for organising an incredibly informative and useful ADHD workshop for parents last week. This was well attended and I hope that it shows our commitment to support both children and families at HPP. The staff also received additional training during the INSET day on how to recognise signs and support those children with ADHD. This generated many discussions and went a long way to further enhance our already strong provision.
This week we have reviewed our uniform policy and have included a link to this document in this week's Buzz. There are only two additions to the policy. Firstly, that children are not allowed to wear make-up in school and if they are, we will be asking them to remove this immediately. Secondly, smart watches are not permitted at school - this is due to their value and capability. Can I also take this opportunity to remind all parents that children should have plain black trousers for PE days.
Thank you for your continued support.
Mr Jon James

ADHD Coffee Morning - Introduction to ADHD
Following on from our successful ADHD Coffee Morning and workshop last week, Sallie Crook (from ADHD Embrace) has sent some additional documents: the list of private diagnosing services which was requested during the session and the link to the handbook if you did not manage to pick one up. These can also be found on the website under the tabs: Key information / Whole School / ADHD Workshop and Coffee Morning
London Mini Marathon
On Saturday a few HJS students had the brilliant opportunity to take part in the mini marathon in London. This consisted of a 2.6km route starting at the Horse Guard Parade and finishing at Buckingham Palace. Well done to all students for representing the school at such a special occasion.
A big thank you to Mr Graves and Mrs Fraser for organising this exciting event.
Football Fixture v St John the Bishop Primary School
On Tuesday, the boys football team travelled to St John the Bishop Primary School to play in their last 16 borough fixture. It started off as a tight affair, with a lot of chances falling to HJS. The boys showed great fight and desire throughout the entire game as they proved to be worthy opponents at this level. The game ended 3-0 to St John the Bishop. Mr Graves wanted to personally thank the boys squad for competing this year. This is a huge achievement and they should be incredibly proud of how far they have come.
Netball Fixture v Barnes
On Thursday HJS netballers travelled to Barnes to play a final 16 Borough match. The team fought valiantly and in the third quarter pulled back a 4 goal deficit to only 1. Unfortunately, despite their endeavour, a very strong Barnes team came through as eventual winners. The game finished 11-6 with Barnes now progressing to the Borough quarter finals. The entire netball squad have been a credit to the school this year and should be extremely proud of their top 16 finish which is a massive achievement! Well done all!
Year 6 News
Well done 6GK with their sewing skills for DT this term. We have learnt running stitch, back stitch and whip stitch and created either a phone case or a pencil pouch. Dolly and Lily-Mae have finished their product…..watch this space for more designs in the up-coming weeks.
