YoYo for Success!
JiJi Awards for Peavy Primary
What do we do with the Yo-Yos?
Let's celebrate success. We will need to give them to the students that have completed 50% of the content successfully.
Where do I find out who has completed 50% of the standards in ST MATH successfully?
The Google Spreadsheet link will take you to the list that was generated before the holiday. You can also look in the teacher reports sections to see who is using their time wisely during ST MATH station time....only those with names listed will receive awards in our first celebration.
How often will we be giving awards to students?
We hope to give them every two weeks until the end of school. Students will need to work on their concepts to get as far as they can before the next give-away. We will give them on Thursday during 1st and 2nd grade lunch. Mrs. Jones and/or Mrs. Mikeal will MC the ceremony. Any changes are campus decisions.
What will help students get better completetion rates?
- Students need to remember to log off. If they continually forget, assign them to the computer instead of the iPad.
- Remind them that JiJi must cross to the other side of the screen in as few attempts as possible.
- Backing up to an easier level won't move JiJi forward
- Use the program
- Try to make sure they are spending quality time on task for the games; leaving JiJi or sitting ideal will not move JiJi to the next level
- Avoid over use
When will we have our first celebration?
We will give out the yo-yos on Monday at the end of the day. The first celebration needs to be in class with teacher encouragements and to provide time for them to ask questions. This would be an opportune time to go over know they do have a chance of earning a treat as well along with a quick safety lesson. Prizes will be in your boxes this afternoon.
Should they be kept at school or sent home?
It is my suggestion that yo-yos be sent home, but that is a classroom management decision for teachers.
May I please have a YoYo for display in my room?
Yes! Teacher modeling is by far the most successful tool in today's educator toolbox!
