Note from the Principal
Happy Thursday!!! What a different kind of start to the school year we have had this year! Thank you, everyone, for your patience and positivity through all the "things" that we shifted the first week of school. It's been a GREAT start with our students and families! Seeing so many of our former students helping out new faces has been great to see! So many of our "littles" have adjusted to being at school quite well! Hopefully the school routines at home have gotten a little easier!
We're excited for all the year has in store for us, and we're thankful for the partnerships we have with each of you to help make it a success!

Lock Down DRILL Today (SUCCESSFUL!!!)
Our staff and students did a FABULOUS job today with our Lock Down Drill. Today was practiced with Lexington County Police Department. Students and staff knew it was a drill and there was no threat or danger. It went quickly and was successful. Your child should be able to tell you a little bit about it if you want to talk to them about it.
When we are conducting a drill, we put a sign on the doorway at the start of the drill for visitors. We cannot allow anyone in or out during that time. Our focus is on our students/the drill in that time, and for that brief time we aren't able to answer the phones or man the door. Thanks in advance for your help/understanding with this.
Grown ups may begin to eat luch with students on Aug. 26!
Parents/Guardians/Grown Ups Eating Lunch
Starting on Monday, August 26th, approved adults listed in PowerSchool will begin to be able to eat lunch with students. You will need your actual ID with you to sign into the office. Without it, you won't be able to come in. When guests come to eat lunch with a student, they sit at the special tables located on the right side of the cafeteria (near the gym) with their student. We are only able to allow the student the grown up is associated with eat lunch over there with them. Grown ups are asked to come only during the students' assigned lunch time, and students must leave the cafeteria with their teacher/class. Guests from lunch should not go anywhere other than the cafeteria (they can't go back to classrooms or recess for safety reasons). You are allowed to bring your student a special lunch if you want to. If you are celebrating a birthday, only individual treats purchased from a store (with the nutritional values/ingredients listed) are allowable (cupcakes do fall in this category). Birthday decorations, balloons, pizzas/drinks, etc. are not allowable. Please see the grade level lunch times below, and reach out to the teacher if you have any questions.
**If you have a child that might have difficulty separating from you in the middle of their school day, you might postpone coming to eat with them even longer.

Regular Office Hours (M-F 7:00-4:00)
Car Line Information
Each day the morning drop off is going a tiny bit faster (I know it might not feel like it when you are sitting in line). Lots of you began taking advantage of the back drop off line and that has helped the front line go more quickly the past couple days. Having students ready to get out as you pull to the curb for a quick exit is extremely helpful! If your child needs a little more time, please consider parking in the parking lot and walk them to the crosswalk for safe crossing (any students entering form the parking lot should have a grown up walk up with them to the crosswalk- that is not a drop off area for safety). We have some safety patrol helpers out there with us each morning until 7:28. Once you are stopped as far up as you can stop in the line, students can exit the vehicle (they do not have to wait for someone to let them out). Remember our tardy bell rings at 7:30. Morning traffic is NO fun, so again, THANK YOU for your patience in the mornings for everyone's safety.
A few other things to consider:
- If your child is eating breakfast, the back drop off is RIGHT beside the cafeteria so using that drop off gives them quicker access to breakfast.
- If your child is in 4K, the back drop off is SUPER close to their classrooms and to their teachers!
- If you are coming late (after 7:30) the back drop off is not an option.
