Dear Parents / Carers,
It is strange to be writing my final newsletter to you all.
It is probably appropriate to look back at my starting point and where we were as a school back in 2018. It was without doubt a very different place. If you are new to the school or only joined in the last few years you might assume the school has always been in the strong position it now finds itself in. It hasn't. For a number of years (pre-2018) Carleton Park had underachieved on a number of levels.
The sole mission since 2018 has been to provide the pupils and community of Carleton Park with the best deal possible, stopping at nothing to do so.
Through the amazing investment from the Pontefract Academies Trust, a staff team who truly care and children who have bought into everything we have aimed to achieve we are now where we are.
The top ranked school in West Yorkshire, in the Times Top 500 schools in the country (314th), the top performing Pontefract School in all metrics for the last few years, 2024 Pontefract Academies Trust Games Winners, Pontefract Academies Trust Talent Winners, the highest attendance in 6 years and far more accolades to mention!
I am proud on every level but mostly on the quality of pupils we are creating at this school.
Our values of: Resilience, Respect, Independence, Teamwork & Excellence permeate the building!
And as our Year 6 parents witnessed in the leavers assembly yesterday, we are creating confident, caring, well-rounded individuals who I know will go on to bigger and better things in the future!
For one final time, thank you for all you have done for the school, I and my staff team appreciate this enormously.
Have a great summer and for those returning in September, I wish you all the very best.
Mr J Ayre
