Congratulations Circle of Greatness Special Honorees!
Please help us congratulate our Fall 2024 Circle of Greatness Special Honorees!
These employees were chosen from among the more than 100 nominees for Circle of Greatness since the start of school to represent the best of the best of our auxiliary, paraprofessional, professional and substitute categories! They will now be in the running for the overall districtwide Circle of Greatness awards in August!
Read below what some of their nominees said about how they are #growinggreatness in our district!
Auxiliary, Kurt Lawrence - bus driver
You can always hear him as the kids get off the bus say “have a good day” as the doors close continued with a wave to the parents. He keeps our kids safe but most importantly our kids FEEL safe with him. We are forever grateful for Mr. Lawrence!
Paraprofessional, Kylie Lehto - Special Education Aide at Stuard Elementary
Professional, Elaina Walden - Aledo High School Science Teacher
Elaina’s dedication shines through in the outstanding support she provides to new teachers, the motivation she bring to our team, and the creativity in her lesson planning.
Elaina has been a vital mentor to new teachers, guiding them with thoughtful onboarding resources, one-on-one coaching, and helpful feedback through classroom observations. Her impact has given these teachers confidence and a strong start in their roles.
Elaina Walden truly exemplifies 'Growing Greatness' by enriching our team and enhancing the student experience.
Substitute, Stephanie Poe - McKinney Elementary
In Aledo ISD, parents, students, community members, fellow staff members - ANYONE - can nominate ANY staff member to be recognized in this way! Take the time today to nominate someone who you've seen going above and beyond and being All in Aledo for Circle of Greatness!

The Bearcat Regiment Makes History at State!

According to PartnerMD, "a 2024 study showed patients wait for an average of 15-30 minutes for a physician" while at their doctor's office. During flu season, it can be taxing for parents to make an appointment, pickup their kids from school for the appointment, wait in the doctor's office, get a diagnosis and prescription, pickup the prescription on the way home, and then finally get home to care for their kids.
Did you know that Bearcat Care Clinics can help? Through our partnership with the Parker County Hospital District, your child and their school nurse can do a virtual appointment with a doctor from the PCHD (with you joining them, as well) and be tested, with your consent, for illnesses like strep throat or COVID. The doctor can prescribe medicine, and you could pick it up on your way home before you pickup your student from school! You'll have a diagnosis, medicine and doctor's note for your student in a fraction of the time it takes to go to your family doctor ... at no cost!
Take the time today to register for our Bearcat Care Clinics - available on each campus - so you're ready to see a doctor quickly the next time your child is sick!
And don't forget to use the new districtwide Absence Reporting Form if your child is absent from school (for an illness or otherwise!).
As a reminder, we have streamlined absence reporting for all of our campuses for this school year. It is very important that we have documented reasons for absences so that we can ensure your student is given an excused absence when needed.

All in Aledo: Working Behind the Scenes to Bring the Bearcat Experience
We know our Bearcat Community is #AllinAledo on Friday nights, but this year we're taking a closer look at all that goes into the Friday Night Magic in and around Tim Buchanan Stadium and even on the road during football season.
As the sun rises on Friday morning, preparations are already underway to make game day a success. Varsity football is truly an "All in Aledo" experience, requiring the coordination of maintenance, technology, athletics, administration, student organizations, community partners and more. Together, they work to ensure that Friday nights at Tim Buchanan Stadium are exciting and enjoyable for everyone in the Aledo community. It takes a small army of volunteers and Aledo ISD staff - around 115 people - to make sure everything, from the restrooms to the giant screen in the end zone, is ready for the nearly 6,000 people who fill the stadium every home game.
On an average Friday night, the volunteers at the concessions stands will sell over 800 Chick-fil-A sandwiches, 500 hot dogs, 500 nachos and Frito pies, and the AG students sell well over 200 hamburgers made with fresh, local beef. The volunteers also sell over 3,500 bottles of water and over 3,000 bottles of soda and Gatorade.
We appreciate the hard work of this crew to make Friday night's special!

Aledo ISD Parenting University Presents: Screenagers
Aledo ISD's Parenting University presents a free screening of the newly release documentary film Screenagers: Elementary Edition. This version of the original Screenagers movie addresses issues that are specific and targeted to the parents of elementary school-aged kids and the challenges they are facing - parenting challenges like when to get kids smart phones, how much screen time is enough, unhooking from and monitoring video gaming, social media pressures, exposure to screens at too young of an age. What research shows is a healthy amount of screen time, as well as other practical solutions for parents, is included. This is a must see for parents of young children trying to navigate the tech-crazy world kids are growing up in!
This screening will be from 8:45-10:15 a.m. on Friday, November 15, in the Aledo High School lecture hall.
