π·CMAS Testing Begins π·
As we "march" into this month, we begin to prepare students for taking the state assessments known as CMAS. This is the time we get to see the impact of all of the hard work that you, K-5 teachers and the students have put into preparing 3rd-5th grade students for success. While it is only intermediate teachers who give the assessments, we know how critical kindergarten-second grade teachers are in preparing students for their foundational skills, so they are equipped for these assessments.
ππ―π
Each year, our staff analyzes the results of our CMAS data and the Dibels data (the foundational skills state assessments) to determine our instructional goals for individual grade levels and as a school. Throughout the year, our teachers, administrators, instructional coach, and instructional assistants work diligently to ensure your students are receiving instruction that is targeted to meet the independent needs of all of our students. By doing so, it is our hope that ALL students will grow and achieve their highest potential.

We are very proud of every staff member and every student in this building. When you get a moment, please make sure you take the time to thank your child's teacher. In addition, celebrate the growth your child has made over the course of their education. Finally, take the time to reflect on yourself as your child's most important teacher. Your child is learning from you daily. YOU ARE YOUR CHILD'S MOST INFLUENTIAL TEACHER!
WE THANK YOU FOR RAISING KIND, RESPECTFUL LEARNERS WHO VALUE LEARNING.

Counselor Corner
Hi Chatfield Families!
As the 4th quarter approaches, the counseling program will be shifting gears yet again to begin a new round of small groups and onto different learning targets in classrooms. Itβs been my goal to have as many students participate in Lunch Bunch as possible. Each quarter, there are about 50-60 students participating, which is nearly 240 students per school year! It has been such fun eating together in a small group and having the chance for students to build stronger relationships at school. During these groups, students have an opportunity to share how their day is going on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the worst; 10 being the best day) and answer an ice breaker question, like, βWhat do you like the most about yourself?β
Counseling lessons in many classrooms will be moving from emotion management onto problem-solving strategies. During this time of year, 5th grade will begin preparing for middle school! We will cover topics like cyber safety, career exploration, and organizational and self-advocacy skills. 5th graders will have a chance to practice using combination locks and discuss any concerns or questions they have about middle school. Having these lessons will hopefully lessen any worries or anxiety they may be experiencing in anticipation of the transition.
Please reach out to me if I can help your child in any way!
Kindly,
Renee Cameron

Mrs. Brown
Mrs.Brown grew up in New York, and has lived in Colorado for about 10 years. She and her husband love spending their free time with their two children and friends, camping, playing in their yard or going to concerts.
Mrs. Brown chose to teach because she had amazing teachers throughout all of her education and she wants to provide a positive learning experience for others. She believes everyone should be pushed to their highest potential and the role of a teacher is to help individuals find that potential in themselves by providing a safe and supportive environment. Everything she does in the classroom comes from the heart.
Mrs. Dunkin
She teaches because she loves words. Words are powerful. She loves books. And she wants to help instill that love of words and reading in her students. Education opens doors and she wants her students to have lots of doors from which to choose in their lives.
