Dot Day: Make a Mark and Make it Matter!
Bear Families,
As educators, one of the best parts of our job is when a student comes back and tells us what they are doing with their life. Bears come back at graduation and tell us where they are going to go to college or what career path they are on. Sometimes they stop back to thank a teacher and update us on how things are going. In an elementary school, we often plant seeds that we don't get to see bloom. We do the best by each student and hope that it helps them in the future.
Today we celebrated "Dot Day"! Dot Day is all about inspiring kids to make a mark on the world. It can be small and when we start we never truly know where that mark or that idea is going to go. That is the magic around each student, we don't know where they will go, but we know they will make a mark on this world. They will do both small and BIG things that will change our world. We feel so blessed to be a part of that journey. Happy Dot Day! To learn more visit https://www.internationaldotday.org/
Honored to be a Bear,

Stay Calm and Parent On: Parenting Resources
Parents,
Introducing the XSEL Room!
XSEL stands for Extra Social Emotional Learning. The XSEL room is designed to help students learn to self-regulate when they are experiencing emotional or sensory dysregulation. The room has several regulation activities for students to do with an adult staffing the room. Students will take a 5 minute break then return to class. Our main goal for implementing this room is to help students recognize when they need a break and to help students find the right calming activity for them. Once students are able to practice those two skills, they will be better equipped to regulate in the classroom setting.
This week and next Mrs. Skura is doing classroom lessons with all students to talk about the XSEL room and how it is used. We anticipate it being ready to open in the beginning of October! Thank you to many parent donors and our PTA for making this possible!
Sincerely, Julie Payne (principal) and Alexandra Skura (counselor)
Important Reminder
PLEASE remember that if you come back to the building after hours for an event (ex. Scouts, sports, CAS, etc.) that classrooms are closed. Please do NOT go into classrooms or allow your child to go to a classroom for any reason. This is a safety and confidentiality concern. If your child forgot something and needs it, you can ask in the office. If the office is closed, you will need to wait until the next day. Thank you for your help on this!
Is your child going to be absent?!
When your child can't come to school it is important to let the office know. You can do this in two ways-
1) Call 614-450-5100 and report the absence.
2) Email bluattend@wscloud.org
Please be sure to communicate your child's name, date of the absence and reason for the absence.
THANK YOU! If you communicate it in any other way it might not get communicated to the right people and we may call looking for your child. This causes undue panic. Thanks for your help on this!
Be sure you receive emails from Worthington Schools!
Worthington Schools is planning a change in how our Infinite Campus email is delivered. We plan to make the change before the end of this calendar year.
Prior to the change, all parents of students in Worthington Schools should view the brief parent guide linked below to ensure that emails continue to get delivered to your email inbox.
