If your child is eating breakfast at school, please have your student arrive at 7:30 am so they can be in class to participate in Community Circle and the Morning Announcements!

We had a great turnout for Back to School Night last week! Thanks for partnering with us as we continue to watch our students RISE! #TogetherWeRise!

Below you will find a copy of the mandatory TItle 1 information presented at the meeting!

Thanks to PTA and RPS Support, our 4th and 5th graders will begin Dancing Classrooms and Minds in Motion this week!

Dancing Classrooms is a 13 week program where our 5th grade students will meet 2 times per week (on Tuesday and Thursday Mornings) to learn 10 different Ballroom Dances! Then there will be a showcase for all 5th grade family/friends to come see our 5th graders shine. A team of 12 students will be selected to represent our school at the Team Match Competition in December!

Minds in Motion is a year long partnership with the Richmond Ballet. Our 4th graders will have a movement lesson once per week (on Thursdays) and then put on a huge performance at the end of April at the Dominion Energy Center with several other schools who also perticipate.

After-School Enrichment Updates:

—Garden Club at Fox is a go! The Garden Club will run Thursdays from 3-4:30 and, thanks to the generosity of Fit4Kids, is being offered for 1st-5th graders at NO COST to families. If your child is interested in participating, please email foxafterschool@gmail.com by Fri 9/6 to be put into a registration lottery. Preference will be given to students who are not already enrolled in other after-school programs.

—Registration is still open for Choir, Girls on the Run, Outdoor Explorers, Art Adventures, and WeeWheel: Elementary Pedals. Due to low enrollment, the WeeWheel: Elementary Pedals class—designed for novice riders—is in danger of being cancelled. Sign up today!

Our PTA Coordinates and Supplements afterschool enrichment opportunities for students. See below for the Fall class offerings, dates, and cost. Families that are able, are strongly encouraged to pay extra to support our scholarships. There are half-priced scholarships available for those that want their child to have the opportunity, but have a financial need. Please take advantage of this opportunity!

We will begin to gather diagnostic data on where are students are academically with state mandated tests. 1st-3rd gr. Students will take the VALLSS (formerly the PALS Screener) to check for knowledge in phonics, reading ability and comprehension. Our 3rd-5th grade students will take the VGA (Virginia Growth Assessment) in Reading and Math, which is part of SOL testing. Kindergarteners will take the VALLSS as well, but not until the beginning of October.

Teachers will use this information to plan instruction for their students!

A Photographer from Strawbridge Studios will be at school on Sept. 20th to take Fall Pictures. See picture flier below--you can order your photos online! A picture flier will come home in backpacks on Monday, Sept. 16.

Additionally, you can sign up to receive update via email regarding your child's school portraits. These updates include promotions, additional deals and the ability to order more pictures at a later time.

Please read the Parent Handbook! It is full of important procedures/policies/info that is helpful for families!

A hard copy will came home with your students on the first day of school in the "First Day Packet"! Please sign and return the last page of the Handbook!

Principal Jacobs and AP Crutchfield had the opportunity to walk the inside of the building--here are a few photos---some SNEAK PEAKS of the work on the inside!

We are still on track to be back in the Hanover Building for the 2025-26 school year!

Every Fox student has HOMEWORK EVERY day. ALL students should read or be read to for 20 minutes daily! If you need some books to read at home, let your child's teacher, our school counselor, CIS worker know. We are HAPPY to have your child pick out some books to take home. Also, check out and use the "Reading Library" that is located at the front of the school.

Research shows that READING EVERY EVENING is the one thing that WILL SET YOUR CHILD UP FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS.

3rd, 4th, 5th grade students will have up to an additional 30 minutes of homework as well (math practice, comprehension practice, studying etc). Teachers/grade levels will communicate homework to their class.
