MORNING ARRIVAL
Parents are welcome to park in the lot across the street from the school. Students will be escorted across the street at marked crossing spots.
Pre-K students must be escorted to the Pre-K gate on the left side of the school by a trusted adult.
If not walking to school, we strongly encourage parents to use our two drop off loops:
Main Loop: For parents of Kinder-5th (elementary) students only.
Pre-K loop: For parents of Pre-K students only. If you have elementary students, in addition to Pre-K students, you may also drop off older students here as well.
For safety reasons, do not drop off students in the parking lots. Parking on campus is for staff use or for drop off and pick up between 8:05 am and 2:30 pm only.
AFTERNOON DISMISSAL
WALKERS
Pre-K: Students will be released to a trusted adult at the Pre-K gate on the left side of the school.
Grades K-2: Classroom teachers will escort the student across the street to the housing area. Parents may park across the street from the school or walk up to meet their child in the designated pick-up area.
Grades 3-5: Students will be release to walk on their own to their parent-designated after school destination.
CAR PICK-UP
Pre-K Loop: Use the designated loop Pre-K loop to pick up your child.
Elementary Loop: Because our car loop is also the school’s fire lane, parents will not be permitted to park in the fire lane at any time. Please do not arrive at school prior to 2:45p for pick-up (1:45 on Friday).
Our official dismissal time is 3:00pm (2:00 pm on Friday). In an effort to get the majority of our younger students on their way, we are staggering our departure times as follows:
Kindergarten- 2:50
First Grade 2:53
2nd Grade 2:55
3-5 Grade 3:00
If you are a parent of a student in grades 3-5, please plan on arriving in the car lane after 3pm, even if you have younger students. This delays our ability to get traffic moving efficiently, as the older students will not be released until that time.
We greatly appreciate your assistance. If all of our parents follow these guidelines, our arrival and dismissal times will go more safely and smoothly.

EXCUSING ABSENCES- LET'S TALK
if you are unable to speak to someone, please leave a detailed voicemail with your name, your child's first/last name, the name of the school, the date of the absence, and the absence reason.
Note: Absences cannot be excused after 48 hours.
If you are needing to pick up your student early, you can still call the front office when you are on your way at 575-812-6100.
BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS IN OTERO COUNTY
Holloman Elementary is excited to bring a school-based mentoring program to our Holloman students and families. Big Brothers and Big Sisters (BBBS) is a non-profit organization that has been around for over 100 years and has been active in Otero county for over 35 years.
What: Students or “Littles” will be matched with a mentor or “Big” who will spend one hour a week working with them to increase academic performance, improve reading skills, boost self-esteem and improve social competence. BBBS are working closely with staff at Holloman Air Force Base to recruit Bigs for our school.
Who: Open to any Holloman student through an application process. Applications are available in the Holloman office for those who are interested. Or you can print the attached application and return it to the Holloman office staff. Big and Little matches are limited and will be made on a first come, first served basis.
When: Bigs and Littles will meet for one hour each week during the school day. Otero Big Brothers and Sisters also sponsor meetups outside of the school for those who may be interested.
Where: Bigs and Littles will meet at Holloman Elementary in a visible, designated area.
