October 20th, 2024

What's happening at ALA? (PreK-12th Grade Communication)
October 25th Student Holiday
While this Friday, October 25th is a student holiday, it is also a time for families to sign-up for a Fall Family Conference. If you have not yet signed up please do so! See the announcement below for more information about these upcoming conferences. The overview of all of our school holidays can always be found on our 2024-2025 Instructional Calendar for ALA Euclid and ALA Tech.
Save the Date: Noche Musical de los Muertos
We are excited to invite you to our 2nd annual Noche Musical de los Muertos, a special PK-12 event celebrating music, culture, and community! Please mark your calendars for this Thursday, October 24th. Noche Musical is not only a major fundraising event for PK-12th grade groups & organizations, but it is also an opportunity for families to experience outstanding performances from our mariachi, theater, dance and band programs! Performances will run from 5-9pm, with food and activity booths available from 5-8pm. A preview of the performance lineup can be seen on this flyer. Wristbands will be sold at the door for $5 and food & activity booth tickets will be $1 per ticket. We hope that all ALA families will be able to attend this exciting event! The event is also open to the public, so we encourage families to share this invitation with friends! You can purchase wristbands in advance in the front office (Cash or Credit Card) at both campuses. You can also purchase the wristbands during the dismissal line with CASH ONLY starting Monday, October 21 through Thursday, October 24th. If you would like to volunteer, you can access the App Garden to view the listing opportunities. We would love for you to help with this event!
Fall Family Conferences
Fall Family Conferences are an important step in building connections between the home and school for all ALA students, PK-12th grade. Friday, October 25th is a student holiday to allow time for teachers to meet with all families. At the conference, teachers will share information about how your student is doing at school, and families are invited to share information about their child as well. Time will be provided for parents to ask questions specific to their child. Sign up for a conference HERE for ALA Euclid (PK-3) and HERE for ALA Tech (4-12). Please see communication from your student’s teacher for additional information.

3rd Grade Field Trip
On Tuesday, October 22 our 3rd graders are headed back to San Pedro Springs Park to observe and take notes as they continue to work on their PBL. If you plan to attend please register in the app garden event. See communication from your child’s teacher for more information. All field trip attendees are expected to have received an approved district background check and have registered for the event in app garden before attending a field trip.
Lockdown Drill Recap
Our students did an excellent job during our lockdown drill on Friday; they followed directions and stayed calm. Thank you everyone for your cooperation during the lockdown drill. As a reminder, as we conduct drills on our campus, our campus is closed. If your student arrives late to campus while we are practicing a drill, we ask that you please wait with your student until the drill is lifted. You are welcome to reach out to your student’s teacher or contact Mrs. Barber at jbarber2@saisd.net with any questions.
Donation Request
Our Noche Musical de los Muertos event is coming up! In preparation for our PreK booth, we are collecting new or gently used stuffed animals now - Oct. 23. If you are able to donate, please place stuffy(ies) in a Donation box that will be located in each village.
Reminder: Character Book Dress Up Day
On October 31st, we will be celebrating Character Book Dress Up Day! This is a fun opportunity for students to dress up as their favorite book characters and bring their stories to life. If your student chooses to participate, please help your student select a costume that represents a character from a book they love. We encourage creativity while keeping costumes simple, school-appropriate and keep costumes from covering their faces. Don’t forget to have your child bring the book that features their character so they can share it with their classmates! We look forward to seeing all the wonderful characters!
