Message from East Hill Principal
Dear East Hill Elementary School Families,
Welcome to the first edition of our weekly newsletter for the 2024-2025 school year! It has been a wonderful first few days back at East Hill Elementary. Our students have impressed us all with their quick adaptation to new routines and procedures. Their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn are truly commendable.
I am excited to invite all parents and guardians to our upcoming Curriculum Night on September 11th. This evening provides a valuable opportunity for you to spend time in the classrooms, meet our dedicated teachers, and gain insight into the curriculum and daily activities that enrich your child's learning journey.
I also extend my heartfelt thanks to our families for their unwavering support and patience as we fine-tune transportation routes to ensure the safe arrival and departure of all students.
Thank you for being part of our East Hill Elementary community! Together, I look forward to a fantastic school year filled with growth, achievement, and memorable experiences.
Warm regards,
Susan

Notes from Nurse Abby
1. Universal Snack List:
The school year is off to a great start! With that, we would like to clarify what appropriate, healthy snacks are for the classroom. Due to allergies, the below list is the approved snack list for classes:
Cheese sticks or any packaged cheese
Fruit
Vegetables
Raisins
Applesauce
Goldfish (Pepperidge Farm brand crackers only).
Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact Abby Falconer, school nurse, at 315-487-4648.
2. Physical and Immunization Record
Please remember to get your child's immunization record and physical record to the school nurse! Please check ParentSquare for nurse communication.
Safety Drills
All students who arrive on the bus did a wonderful job yesterday with their safety drills! Our bus drivers reviewed bus safety and expectations followed by emergency protocols and procedures.
Next week we will practice safety drills including fire evacuation drills. Students are receptive and responsible while we practice how to evacuate the building in a timely manner.
Universal Screening
All students (grade 1-4) will be screened in the subject areas of literacy and math next week. Grade level teams, Instructional Support Teachers, and District Coaches, will utilize the data collected to help drive our instruction when looking at our interventions and extensions as a part of our Multi Tiered System of Support, known as WIN (what I need) Time, which is a block where each student receives tiered instruction.

We are pleased to announce that all students enrolled at West Genesee CSD will be able to continue to receive one FREE breakfast and one FREE lunch meal per day at school.
This initiative was implemented in December 2023 and was a result of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) expanding access to the federal Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). CEP allows eligible schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs to offer school meals at no charge to all students.
