Little Vikings
Are becoming quite independent!
Out and About
Since so many of our friends have been out sick we slowed our lesson plans down and worked harder on things we had already been learning, like the letter G! Teams of students went to various classrooms and offices asking if the occupants had any G words for them. Our list is now extremely long and the students conquered traversing the halls by themselves! We are also noticing how many students are asking for their academic work before free play is complete, reminding us of things that need to be done and getting their own coats on and hot lunches picked up. We are really growing up!
The Flu
We have had multiple students test positive for the flu. If your student presents with a fever and lethargy, please keep them home! I was in the classroom again this weekend, disinfecting the room, toys and sleeping mats. We have sent home bedding to be washed and continue to talk to the kids about germs and washing hands.
Academics
As I stated above we slowed down our lessons so sick students wouldn't miss out. This week will still be centered around patterns, the forest, it's inhabitants and food chains. We will introduce the letter H.
Volunteer Opportunities
If you need hours and would like to do them from home, we are in need of someone to make play-doh for us. I can give you a recipe and pointers, it is quite easy. We would like a double batch every other week for Friday free play after mass. Let us know if this is something you would be willing to do. I am happy to provide the ingredients as well.
I am also on the look out for anyone with a cri-cut. I would like letters, numbers and shapes for our continued pattern work. I would give you the paper and any other supplies you require.
Socks And CSW
The sock drive ends this week on the 23rd. These socks will be donated to homeless teens in need. Please donate a pair or two if you can!
Catholic Schools week is the last week in January. Please refer to the office's bulletin for all the fun things your student can participate in! Also pray for me that I don't break an ankle as I pretend to be much younger than I am and whoop up on the students in the staff vs students Basketball game on the Wed. during CSW!
