WALKING WEDNESDAY IS TOMORROW
It is supposed to be 70 degrees on Wednesday morning when our event occurs. We welcome students and parents joining in along the way on any of the six planned walking routes. Either that option, or consider walking or biking in on your own. Be sure to check in at the entrance of the school before you head indoors. All student participants are eligible to win a raffle of a recess ball of their choice for their learning community.
Wednesday, May 22nd. 6:45 to 7:30 AM. Link to map, meeting points and meet-up times.
VOYAGERS BICYCLING UNIT IN P.E.
Local Motion, a Vermont organization dedicated to promoting walking and biking, has once again loaned our school the use of a bike-filled trailer for instructional purposes. The P.E. instructors use their bikes, and some from our own fleet of bicycles, to meet the sizing needs of our 4th through 8th graders. Students start the biking unit by riding around the bus loop and eventually they graduate to riding around the gravel path that surrounds our athletic fields. In June, the 6th graders will celebrate their shift up to middle school by taking a bike trip to the Abbey along the rail trail and then back to school. To do so, they will need familiarity with riding and shifting gears.
