Our Ribbon Cutting was a HUGE SUCCESS!
Principal's Corner
This past week was a BIG week for the Wolfpack. Our ribbon cutting was a huge success! Thank you to Dr. Craft and the Senior Leadership team, Mr. Charles Georg and family, to our students, staff, our amazing PTO and our district's communication team for for helping us organize such a beautiful event. It was so heartwarming to see so many of Ms. Viola Wilson's family members and past students. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us. It was a day to remember.
I would like to recognize Ms. Armadillo for working with our students to prepare a wonderful musical performance, our 4th and 5th grade student singers, our ushers and student keynote speaker. We are so proud of you!
Another big shout out to our PTO for the wonderful mariachi music on Monday as we celebrated the beginning of National Hispanic Heritage month. I am sad to have missed it- I am out sick, but heard the music was wonderful.
We have a new allocation in Kindergarten and are excited to welcome Ms. Kriste Fedor to the pack.
We are going to have a great week in the den!
Welcome Kriste Fedor- Kindergarten
I am very excited to join Viola Wilson Elementary! We have family in the area and have vacationed her for years! It took us a little while to get to Boerne, but we finally made it! I am married, have two grown daughters, a son-in-law, two dogs, and a horse named Jerry. I love to play games with my family and friends, enjoy activities outdoors, and love to ride my horse.
After teaching for 6 years, I was a stay at home mom when my kids were very young. During that time we made our way to Texas for my husband’s job and have called it home ever since. When it was time to continue my teaching career, I was in Special Education working with students in grades K-2 for 10 years. During that time, I found I have a love for teaching Kindergarten. I transitioned into the Kindergarten classroom 5 years ago and feel blessed to continue my 6th year as a part of the Viola Wilson family!

Carline Safety
We continue to work on our carline in the hope of making it faster. We are working on beginning our Safety Patrols who will help us unload more cars which should speed up the carline.
In the meantime we kindly ask that you:
- Drive your child all the way where adults are present for drop off. Please do not drop students off at the curb where no adults are present. Your child's safety is our number one priority and we want to make sure students are safe at all times.
- Please do not cut in front of other vehicles. This could cause a traffic accident and we want to make sure everyone is safe.
- You are welcome to use the parking lot by using the entrance closest to the recess area.
We continue to work with our SRO to make any improvements to our arrival. Thank you for your patience.
Tardies Reminder
If your child arrives at 7:35 or later, you will need to park and sign your child in. Our carline is improving each day and we thank you for your patience. We would like to remind you that we will ask you to park and sign your child in if they are not in their classroom at 7:35 a.m.
Lost & Found
Please be sure to label your child's items with their name. This includes water bottles, sweaters, sweatshirts and jackets, lunch boxes, pencil bags, etc.
We want to be sure to get these items back to their owners as quickly as possible.
Attendance Goal- 97% Each Day
It is so important for our wolves to be at school everyday. We have a goal of 97% attendance each day. Each classroom will have the word Wolfpack in their classroom. Each time everyone is present a letter will be filled in. Once the class fills in all the letters, they can earn a class reward determined by the teacher.
Please help us by getting your children here on time. If your child is needing to be excused please email our Attendance Secretary, Lisa Escalante at lisa.escalante@boerneisd.net.
Thank you!
Arrival & Dismissal Routes
Safety in Parking Lot
As we strive to ensure the safety and well-being of all our students, I kindly ask for your cooperation in maintaining safe and courteous behavior in our school parking lots. Please be mindful of speed limits, avoid using mobile devices while driving, and always yield to pedestrians. Your patience and respect for others during drop-off and pick-up times make a significant difference in keeping our school community safe and harmonious.
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our students' safety.
Arrival/Dismissal
Thank you for your patience as we navigate arrival/dismissal. In order to ensure student safety please refrain from:
1. Parking in handicap spots without a handicap tag.
2. Driving through the parking lot and letting students out of your vehicle in the parking lot. Having them cross in the parking lot without a pedestrian crossing is not safe. All students need to be dropped off in the front of the school where they are greeted by a staff member. The parking lot will have cones to prevent cars from coming through the lot.
3. Dropping students off in front of the recess area and having them walk alone. We want to ensure all students have adult supervision as they enter the building.
We are grateful to have Officer Rhee as our SRO. We thank you for showing him and all other staff on duty courtesy and kindness.
THREE OPTIONS FOR DISMISSAL
1. Car Rider
Every family will be assigned a dismissal number for the entire school year. Your number will be given to you at Meet the Teacher. You will need your driver's license to pick up your child's number.
You will need to display your car tag number so that it is visible on your windshield when you go through the carline. We are anticipating many car riders and dismissal may be slow initially. Please rest assured safety is the number one priority and we want to ensure every child is loaded in the correct car everyday.
2. Bus Rider
We will have VWES staff on duty from the campus and from the Transportation department to ensure a smooth arrival and dismissal for families when they load/unload from the bus during the first week of school.
The Transportation department assigns all bus routes. Any specific questions you have about transportation, please feel call the department at 830-357-2970.
3. Walker/ Bike Rider
The only students that will be allowed to walk or ride their bike are students who live in Corley Farms or if preapproved by an administrator. Your child will be considered a walker if they walk from the front door of the school to the front door of your house.
Walkers does not include students walking to cars parked in Corley Farms or on Homestead Ridge.
If your child is in PK-2 you will need to meet the VWES staff at the entrance of the Corley Farms subdvision.
Over the Counter Medications
Beginning this year, the Board of Nursing has clarified that any medications, including over-the-counter (OTC) medications such as Tylenol, cold syrups, allergy pills, etc. must have a medical provider's signature on the medication form. In the past, we have been allowed to administer OTC medications simply with parent permission/signature. This is no longer allowed. Per the Texas Nurse Practice Act, approved providers include MD, DO, APRN, PA, dentist, or podiatrist.
Bus Safety Reminders
As we continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of all our students, we kindly ask for your support in reminding your child about the importance of staying safe and behaving respectfully on the school bus.
Riding the bus allows students to begin and end their school day on a positive note for our riders. To ensure a safe and pleasant experience for everyone, please remind your child to follow the bus driver's instructions, remain seated during the ride, and treat their fellow students with kindness and respect.
We appreciate your partnership!
Birthday Treats
Birthday treats must be store bought with a nutrition label. This is a BISD procedure that has been in place since 2018. Treats from bakery's must also include nutrition labels.
Please view the BISD Severe Food Allergy Management Plan for more information at https://www.boerneisd.net/Page/8985.
Page 13 states: All foods brought to campus for special occasions such as birthday parties, holiday parties, any special occasion MUST have an FDA approved label with ingredients and allergens legibly listed.
Birthday treats may be dropped off in the front office. Visitors will not go to classrooms. Teachers will celebrate the last 15 minutes of the day, prior to dismissal. Flowers and balloons are not to be sent to school for delivery for any student
Birthday Invitations
Teachers or students may not pass out invitations to select children in a homeroom class. Either all the class must receive one or all the boys or all the girls must receive one. This is done for good reason - it is never pleasant to be the one who is not invited. Thank you for understanding.
Visitors at Lunch
Visitors will only have lunch with their child and for food allergy/safety reasons, visitors may not bring food for other students. Friends will not be permitted to eat with you. We do ask that you limit the use of phones/pictures as much as possible to insure student privacy. You may arrive a few minutes before the student's lunch time and wait in our office.
All lunch visitors must sign in and out with the front office. First time visitors must have their ID. If you are unable to sign in on our Raptor system, you will not be able to enter the campus nor will be able to have your student join you.
No delivery food for students will be accepted by someone other than a family member for the safety of our students. This includes but is not limited to Chick-fil-a, Uber Eats, Grubhub, etc.
If a family member is dropping off lunch, please make sure the child knows it is coming, notify the teacher and be sure it is received before the student's lunch time. Any student that does not have a lunch within the first 10 minutes of their lunch time will purchase a lunch from the cafeteria.

Thank you for understanding!
