Welcome Back Sentinels
We hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break. As we enter the final quarter of the year we have some important information for all students and parents. As always, if there is anything you need or questions you have, please let us know, specially as we wrap up the year, move into testing season, and count down to graduation.
Fun Week Before Break
Before Break, we had some great things happening with our Sentinels.
Past President Carmen Genova
Key Club Board
President Pia Garcia,
Vice President Chandra Reyes,
Secretary Rebecca Ewers,
Treasurer Luke Ewers,
Editor Max Young
A group of SHS student went to China and spent a week learning about the Chinese Culture returning right before Spring Break. When talking with the students, many said they had an amazing time and said their experience was incredible.
SHS Band had a fund day on Friday before Spring Break learning a new song, but only using their hands and feet. Members of band headed to Anaheim over break to perform and learn at Disneyworld.
Students in our Engineering classes had presentations where they had to create something using a "new type of material" and then analyze various measurements of the material and how it reacted using a computer program called Fusion360. The students shown, created a device that took heat from a car engine and converted it back to power for the car battery, (idea was to replace the use of an alternator.)
JROTC used their teambuilding and collaboration techniques to decide as a team how they were going to structure their PT day the Friday before break. JROTC is a student leadership class were students are driving the class and work with our instructors to build personal and team leadership skills.
Art students worked on a technique were they took a picture, broke the picture into squares and then drew the picture using Oil Pastels and enlarging the scale of the picture.
Senora Williams' Spanish class had fun playing "las charadas al reves" (reverse charades) before break. (There was lots of laughter and fun.) Students have grown a ton in their Foreign Language skills this year.
Our Tenor Bass Choir Students had fun warming up at the start of class.
