Dewey Carter Elementary Weekly Update
From Mrs. Frazier's Desk
It is hard to believe we are halfway through October already. Our students and teachers are working hard both in the building and virtually, and we are so proud of all of our students.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make transitions of some of our students from Virtual to Face to Face instruction as well. There are a few things I wanted to update you all on:
- PowerSchool grades: Students who have changed teachers, learning environments, or both will have grades that are not complete in PowerSchool for the remainder of the semester. Teachers are including comments in their grade books to reflect that grades will be averaged from both teachers to establish a final quarter grade. If you have questions about your child's grade please be sure to ask your child's teacher.
- CogAt and Iowa Testing: Our second grade students will begin taking the CogAt and Iowa Assessments. These assessments are given to all 2nd grade students in Florence 1 Schools. You should have received a letter from your child's teacher explaining the testing dates. Please make sure you child gets a good night sleep and is at school on time for testing. Thank you!
- Morning Drop off: Please use the back car line to drop your children off in the morning for school. The front loading and unloading area is designated for buses only. 4K students are dropped off in the front as well and signed in, but we are asking that you please park and walk your 4K child to the door.
- Afternoon Carline: Due to our decreased number of face to face students this year our car line will run from 2:10-2:35 in the back car line. Please be in car line to pick up your child in the afternoon by 2:35. Any student picked up after 2:35 will need to be picked up in the front office.
Our 5th grade students have been learning about continental and oceanic landforms. Look at their awesome shaving cream creations of the different types of landforms they studied.
Parents! We need your help!
If you have not already created your School Dismissal Manager account now is the time to do so!
We are implementing a new dismissal process for our car line. All parents should have gotten an email with a user name, password, and instructions on how to set up your account. Please login to your account and set your child's default dismissal (how they will get home each day).
We need all parents to log in and complete the Dismissal Manager sign up so we can get our system up and running. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
