3/7/25 Newsletter

From the Principal's Desk
7 March, 2025
Dear Page School Community,
I wanted to take a moment to share some highlights from Tuesday night’s Page School presentation at the School Committee and to recognize the good work of our students, staff, and families.
Our students were absolutely awesome! Student Council members Evelyn Hammond, Henry Knezek, and James Shattuck did a fantastic job representing Page and talking about the recent food drive and school wide assembly. Jack Bacheller gave a nice presentation on our new student newspaper the Page Press - For Students and by Students.
Ms. Conway recorded a video during rehearsal last night, and the School Committee loved getting a sneak preview of SpongeBob the Musical— it was a real hit! The show is April 5th & 6th at Triton HS.
A special thank you to Ms. Gadd for her help making sure the students got to the right place at the right time, and to Ms. Tierney, who I put on the spot to share about teacher collaboration — she did a fantastic job giving her perspective. We were also fortunate to have Kerry Pearl, one of our many parent volunteers, present on Tasting Tuesdays. You can check out the presentation slide-deck HERE.

Changes in Dismissal Plan
We understand that life is busy and occasional changes may come up in your child's dismissal plans. For example, if you need to switch from bus transportation to car pick-up for an afternoon, it is critical for us to know. Please email your child’s teacher with the updated dismissal information and include a CC to Ms. Bacheller in the main office at vbacheller@prsd.org. This ensures we can safely and efficiently manage the dismissal process for all students. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
Conference Day
Friday, March 14th, is an early release day for students. It has been earmarked for spring parent-teacher conferences. This is an opportunity for families who have matters they want to discuss to touch base with the teacher. The conferences are optional, so please don't feel that you have to use the conference time to simply check in if there are no concerns. Please email your child's teacher as soon as possible if you would like to schedule a conference.

Nurse’s Notes: Your Dose of Wellness Wisdom
Hello Page Families,
Another month of the school year has passed. It can be hard for students to come back from a stretch off, and now we have a particularly long chunk of time between breaks. It may feel overwhelming to students, parents (and staff!) alike. Anything your family can do to relieve stress in a positive way, do it! On the bright side, the days are getting longer, and the first official day of spring is in March, Hooray!
For the month of February, I had 358. The top complaints were stomachaches, headaches, and non serious musculoskeletal injuries.
I am looking for children's clothing donations for the Health Office! We are in need of sweatpants for all sizes, t-shirts for girls, and underwear for boys and girls in the size range of K-2nd graders and various sizes of socks. Much appreciated!
I had the pleasure of doing lessons with 4th grade on Spread Love, Not Germs. We talked about healthy lifestyle habits and how to spread love to their Page community. They did awesome! See some of their work posted on my door and in the hallway to spread some positivity to our school! (photos attached)

G.A.R. West Newbury Public Library Offerings
The Friends of West Newbury Library is having a fundraiser and it's focus is on kids!
We are having an art contest and the top ten winners will have their artwork turned into notecards that the Friends will then offer for sale (pack of 10 cards for $10) to help support the Library and its programs. A lot of people aren't aware that the Friends fund a large portion of the kids' activities at the library including the museum pass discounts, summer reading prizes, craft kits, the Little Free Library (at Action Cove), and the Library of Things are some of the more kid/family related things we support.
