eLearning Day - October 9th
The district will have an eLearning Day on October 9th. Therefore, students will not report to school. Lessons and activities will be given and completed online. This is not a real time learning day. Therefore, students will not be meeting with their teacher via Zoom.
Families can expect:
❏ Students will have remote learning activities that reinforce grade-level Indiana Academic
Standards.
❏ Delivery of remote learning activities will be sent out via Google Classroom or Seesaw. Additional guidance/mini lessons may be given through videos.
❏ Families can contact school personnel, including their child’s teacher, administration, and
counselor, through dojo, email or phone calls.
❏ Students will receive feedback on their work, and teachers will monitor and track their
engagement.
Student Expectations During eLearning Day:
❏ During remote learning, elementary students are expected to login to their Seesaw or Google
Classroom accounts. All assignments and attendance questions will be posted by 9:00 A.M.
Attendance questions must be answered by 9:00 P.M.
❏ Students are expected to complete assignments. Students will be given regular feedback on their assignments. Assignments will count towards the students’ cumulative grade.
❏ Students are expected to engage in their learning and students/parents are expected to reach out to the teacher and/or school if help is needed.
❏ Student attendance will be documented when answering the attendance question and work
completion by 9PM.
Frequently Asked Questions:
1. What if our family does not have internet access?
● Wi-Fi ACCESS POINTS: The district has added outdoor access points to each school (and the
Central Education Center/389 E. Jackson Street) to provide Wi-Fi for district devices. Families
can park in the parking lot of each school or at the Central Education Center and download

2. Does the work assigned during eLearning days count?
● Yes; work assigned during the eLearning days will count towards the students’ cumulative course grades.
3. How can I get technology support?

Safety Matters
Dear Parent or Guardian,
This year, your child’s school will be using the MBF Child Safety Matters® program (the Program) from the Monique Burr Foundation for Children. The goal of the Program is to help keep your child safe.
The program empowers children to spot and respond to bullying, cyberbullying, child abuse, and digital dangers. Most importantly, it teaches that adults are responsible for their safety but there are things they can do to help adults keep them safe. The Program is based on the latest research and has been reviewed and endorsed by national experts.
Why does your child need a safety program?
» 10% of children are abused before their 18th birthday
» 14% of children have been solicited online
» 28% of students have been bullied
» 90% of children between 8 and 16 years have viewed explicit material online
The Program teaches about these dangers by:
» using age-appropriate, easy to understand language.
» playing fun games and activities.
» providing take-home items to remind children and parents of the lessons and Safety Rules.
When children are taught safety information and rules to help them stay safe, they perform better in school and enjoy healthier, happier, and safer lives.
You can learn more about the Program at www.mbfpreventioneducation.org.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday)
- Doors open at 8:25AM (we do not have staff members available to supervise students before 8:25) Please DO NOT drop them off at the door prior to 8:25.
- Door 2 (by the cemetery) & Door 8 (by the car wash) are both options for drop off. It is your preference on which door you would like to drop your child off at. Please pull up along the sidewalk before letting your child out of the car. DO NOT allow your child to cross in front of cars. If your child is in preschool, kindergarten, or first grade, we would prefer that you drop off and pick up at Door #2.

Our Free & Reduced Application will be called Curricular Materials & Meal Assistance Application. For the 2024-2025 school year, breakfast will be free. Parent Square
ParentSquare is the MSD of Martinsville’s tool to communicate with Artesian families.
Families may register for an account and set their preferences for how they’d like to receive messages from us. For example, many parents only want to receive a text, while others prefer email, and others choose both. If you download the app (it’s free!), you can also get notifications via the app.
Another feature of the app is that it allows users to select their preferred language.
In emergencies or when notifying school families is urgent, ParentSquare will use all methods of contact, including a phone call, text, email, and app notification (if we have the correct information and if you’ve downloaded the app).
If you do not register with ParentSquare, you will still receive an email when we use ParentSquare to send a message.
If you do not have an email from the MSD of Martinsville inviting you to create a ParentSquare account, please notify your community.relations@msdmartinsville.org and we will send you the invitation. While you do not need to create an account to receive messages from us, you will have greater flexibility to tailor the ways you receive messages from us if you have an account.
Once you have created an account, there are additional resources available to help you tailor your account to meet your own preferences.
