Dear Vernon Community,
As we explore the journey of learning and development, perseverance stands out as an essential key to success. This skill involves a relentless commitment to achieve goals despite facing challenges and setbacks. While some individuals may naturally exhibit perseverance, others might need to cultivate it more consciously. Regardless, developing perseverance can significantly enhance our ability to achieve and surpass a wide range of life goals.
Our students face frequent opportunities to exercise perseverance in various aspects of their lives, from their academic pursuits to building and sustaining relationships, and in following their personal passions. These challenges present themselves not only within the confines of the classroom but also in everyday situations at home. As essential partners in education, your role in nurturing this critical skill is invaluable.
We encourage you to be attentive to and acknowledge instances where your child shows perseverance at home. For instance, after your child finishes a difficult task, consider saying, “I noticed you completed cleaning your entire room, even though it was tough and you felt like stopping. That really shows perseverance.” Recognizing these moments underscores their significance and celebrates the personal strength required to persevere.
To further support these conversations at home, here are some conversation starters you might find useful:
- When is a time you persevered, or saw someone else persevering?
- Why do you think it is important to be able to persevere when things get tough?
- Can you share a moment when I had to persevere? How do you think that helped me?
Thank you for your continued support and dedication. Your involvement not only strengthens our educational efforts but also empowers our students to become resilient individuals capable of overcoming challenges. Together, we are building a community where perseverance is not only valued but practiced with intention.
We appreciate all that you do. Your partnership is crucial as we teach our students to persevere through life's challenges. Together, we can help all Vernon Owls reach their goals!

Dear Vernon Community,
It’s time to start getting excited for Owl Fest! June 1st is coming up quickly and we’re goin to need a lot of hands on deck for the day of the event!
We’ve broken shifts down to 1 to 1.5 hours so families can enjoy the event AND help out! It’s going to take a village, but oh, the fun!
Thanks!
