Bison Family-School Connections Nights
On August 29th, 5-7pm Families are invited to our Bison Family-School Connections Night. This is an in-depth presentation and Q&A time to get to know your child’s learning community and expectations. Teachers should have shared surveys with families to solicit questions and specific topics they may want to have included in this time.
K-5 families will attend sessions (15 minutes each to allow families with multiple students to visit other grade levels) from 5-6pm. 6th-8th Grade families will attend sessions from 6-7pm. Please keep an eye out for additional details from your child’s teacher. Questions, please contact your child’s teacher.
KidsPak
If you need weekend food support for your student(s) in the Thompson School District, please tell a teacher, principal, or counselor, or you can use this QR code to sign up for a KidsPak. There are no income or other eligibility requirements. The only information needed is your student’s name, school, grade and if they have a food allergy.
Your student(s) will then be given a KidsPak on the last school day of each week that school is in session. KidsPak bags contain items for a variety of individual meals. Bags will be distributed discreetly and information will be kept confidential.
Grab and Go KidsPak food bags are also available at the Loveland Public Library and the Berthoud Public Library during business hours, and 7:30-11:30 am at the Family Center at Stansberry.
Stampede Kick Off
We’re excited to announce that our 7th Annual Bison Stampede Fundraising Event kicks off with a school-wide assembly this Monday! Our ambitious goal is to raise $35,000 to support High Plains School, with 100% of the funds going directly back to our school community. Please note that all fundraising activities will conclude before the event day.
Students will start receiving the information packets next week, but please feel free to register on Pledgestar at https://pledgestar.com/highplains/. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Shena Schultz via email at treasurer@highplainsptco.org.
Stampede Details: On September 20, 2024, students will have the opportunity to run, walk, and dance around the track to energetic music. This event is a fun way to promote health while raising funds. Family and community members are encouraged to join us and cheer on the participants!
Swag & Prizes: Each student will receive a T-shirt, a Bison Tattoo, and a goodie bag just for participating. Additionally, students who raise funds will be eligible to win exciting prizes!
We will be sending more information home this week. Thank you for your continued support of High Plains School!
For any questions, please email president@highplainsptco.org.
100 Mile Club
100 Mile Club is back Monday, August 26! We run or walk laps around the HPS track to reach 100 miles by the end of the year. This is a great way for kids to start their day, getting the wiggles out to help them focus at school. We meet before school on M, T, Th, F from 7:35 to 8:00 am and W from 8:20 to 9:00 am, when the weather is clear and the temp is above 15°. All HPS kids kindergarten through 8th grade are welcome to join.

Fire Drill
Each month our district requires each school to conduct drills for different events that could occur. These drills help students and staff be prepared in the event a real emergency should occur. This upcoming week all students and staff will participate in a fire/evacuation drill. If you are in the building volunteering or visiting, please follow drill directions. The office will be closed at the time of the drill. Should you have questions about drills, please contact Robert Holmes, our Campus Monitor, Karen Helfrich, Assistant Principal, or Danielle Feeney, Principal.
Self Care
Each week we will present new activities that you may choose to use with your child. At school, we are using similar activities that will be presented as challenges within the classroom, and as each activity is completed students will be encouraged to document their achievement on a Bingo Board (located in the Bison Cafe). You might want to do this at home! When a line is completed, students at school earn fun perks (ask them about this!), and you may choose to incentivize this at home, as well.
Here are the challenges for this week:
FOCUS: SELF AWARENESS
- Share two things you're good at and two things to improve
- Notice how different foods change your mood
- Talk about today's best and hardest moments
- Name people who support you when you are down
- List three things you're thankful for today
Tech4All and Responsible Use Policy
Families, please read the letters from our district IT to understand student device responsibilities, accountability, as well as additional information to ensure student devices are used well.
The Responsible Use Policy needs to be signed by guardians. If a guardian completed the form during this calendar year, the process is complete for the 24-25 school year. Please see the above letters for how to complete the Responsible Use Policy.

Annual Family Update - needs to be done ASAP
Annual Family Check-In (AFC) is required for ALL current students in Thompson School District. Families are required to have a parent or guardian in the current student’s primary household review and sign permission forms and update (if needed) the student’s household information, emergency contacts, and health information. Annual Family Check-In is located in the Parent Portal Account. For assistance, please contact Portal@TSD.org.
Please click on "More" in your Parent Portal Account for the AFC Link, then select Begin Registration.
When doing your Annual Family Check In on Infinite Campus you can register your incoming 24/25 Kindergartner. This will help us to plan for next year.
