2022 Fire Science Grad Honored by City of Franklin
Firefighter Bradley Lawson Put All of His Training to Great Use
Bradley Lawson, a firefighter for the City of Franklin, recently earned recognition for his exceptional work as a first responder. A 2022 Warren County Career Center graduate of the Fire Science program, Bradley’s dedication and quick thinking were instrumental in saving a life during a structure fire in the early hours of November 8th. "Our crew responded to a fire around 1 a.m., and when we arrived, we saw fire through the victim’s window," he recounted. The crew entered the apartment to find a kitchen fire with heavy smoke. Using a thermal imaging camera, they located the victim amidst heavy smoke, extricated them to the front door, and carried them out of the structure to safety. This act of heroism earned Bradley and two other firefighters a Certificate of Merit from the City.
Reflecting on his journey into a career in the fire service, Bradley shared that the friendships he built and the guidance he received at WCCC have left a lasting impact. "The instructors were very experienced and used their knowledge to show me how to properly do my job," he said. "Without their help and mentorship, I would not be where I am today." Inspired by a family member’s positive experience going through the same program, Bradley pursued fire science at the Career Center and has since found a deeply rewarding career in the fire service. To those starting their own journey, he encourages them to, "enjoy it while you can, and trust the process." Bradley’s story is one of courage, dedication, and the profound rewards of serving others and we’re thankful for his service and to have him as an alumnus.

“I’m excited to see our application numbers continue to grow,” said WCCC Superintendent Joel King. “Our high application numbers are a testament to the great staff and the students we have here who have helped to showcase just how special this place is.”
Students are encouraged to apply by December 31st for the best chance at their first choice program. For more information or to apply, visit mywccc.org.

Workforce Services Hosts Graphic Arts Meet & Greet
Potential Employers Meet with Seniors
On Thursday, WCCC welcomed representatives from 12 companies to campus for a Meet & Greet with seniors in the Graphic Arts, Imaging, and Advertising Design program. Companies like Minuteman Press, Alphagraphics, Performance Wraps, and Pax Corrugated spent time going table to table to talk to students, see what they were interested in, see some samples of their work, and talk about opportunities at their company.
"Traditional job fairs are tough, especially in a school setting where we need the students to go up and talk to the employers," said Chad Bridgman, Director of Workforce Development and Industry Partnerships for WCCC. "We're flipping the script, and we have the students set up at the booth and let the companies go around and talk to them."
