Mrs. Michels Weekly Updates
Let's make it a great week!
Weekly Updates and Reminders 1/6-1/17
Hello Hamilton Families!
Happy New Year!! I hope 2025 is off to a great start and keeps right on going for a wonderful year! I hope you and your children are ready to get back to our school routines and activities. I am excited to see our kiddos and get back to work on all of our academic and behavioral goals.
We often hear, people make New Years Resolution's, well this year I challenge you to make New Years action steps. It is great to have a goal, but a goal with out a plan is just a wish!! Think about the small steps you need to take towards a bigger goal. Planning your smaller action steps leads to achieving big goals. For example, if you have a goal to eat healthier in 2025, start small. You can start by making a healthy weekly meal plan and shopping for all your ingredients. Planning out your meals and having the supplies on hand will help to avoid the quick stops for fast food. Once you have that healthy habit in place you can move to your next action step. Breaking your goal up into smaller action steps is a great way to be successful.
One goal I have for Hamilton is to increase student attendance ( which includes less tardies and less early pick ups). I hope you will join me in this effort. A good first action step is to go to bed at a reasonable time so kids are ready to get up on time for school. It is a great time to get started with this healthy and productive habit!
NWEA Assessments
Our second round of NWEA testing begins on 1/13 and ends 1/31. Please make sure your child is at school on time for the full day during our NWEA testing time so they don't have to miss recess for make up tests.
District Phones:
As of right now I do not know if our phones are back up. Please make sure you are connected to Dojo and be aware that school staff may be calling you from an unknown number if we have to reach you during the school day. As soon as I have an update on the phones I will send a Dojo message.

School Cancelation Notifications
If the district has to close school you will be notified via automated phone call first. This will also be posted on our district web site, wwcsd.net and posted on the Dojo school story. There is no need to individually message school staff to ask if there is school. This also a good reason to make sure your accurate/current phone number is on file so the call goes to the correct number. You can also check WDIV news https://www.clickondetroit.com/ for school closures as the district will also post it there. Again, the place to check for school closing are school story on Dojo, WWCSD.net, and WDIV if you don't receive a call.

Transportation
We are having some issues with behavior on the bus. Please talk to your student and remind them of the expected behavior on the bus. Please keep in mind that the bus is a privilege and if your child is loses his/her privilege of using the bus they are still required to attend school. Being safe on the bus is critical and the expectation for all students who ride the bus. Students who do not follow the bus expectations will have consequences and if the behavior is repeated they could be removed from the bus.
The district has an app called Here Comes the Bus. This wonderful free app allows you to track exactly where you child's bus is at all times.
