Don Bosco High School
May 2024
April was spent Sharpening the Saw as we look to Find our Voice in May.
Finish Strong
The end of the school year is upon us! The signs of summer are blossoming, outside of school activities are in full swing and it gets increasingly difficult to stay focused when we know the end of the year is 17 school days away! YES! 17 days (less for seniors)!
God bestows on us many gifts. He gives us the power of our minds. Our minds are powerful by design! WE get to “choose our weather” each and every day! WE get to choose how we finish things so that all of our efforts throughout the year have not been for nothing!
I love this scripture that can help us to stay focused: 2 John 1:8 | Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked so hard to achieve. Be diligent so that you receive your full reward.
The kids need our combined support and encouragement to finish the year as strong as we possibly can! We KNOW they can do it!!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Douglas
Student Faith Testimony
Mass is celebrated weekly within the Bosco student body and on April 26 we celebrated the First Communion of Ethan, a Bosco freshman. Ethan joined BCSS in the fall of 2023 and is a welcomed addition to our freshman class.
"I decided to have my first communion today because I want to expand my faith and take that next big step. Since I became a Don I have found different ways to explore and expand my faith and cannot wait for what the next three years has to offer."

Seniors Learn CPR and First Aid
In April I taught a class of seniors CPR basics and initiating first aid care. Sudden cardiac arrest can happen anytime, anywhere, regardless of age or health. CPR is a critical skill in the event of an emergency that can be lifesaving. Even basic life saving knowledge allows students to respond effectively in an emergency, when seconds count.
Students practiced CPR and rescue breathing on training mannequins. They demonstrated "Real Life Scenarios" outlining the appropriate order of actions to take if someone is unresponsive: how to secure the scene, call for help, check for responsiveness, and initiate CPR if needed. We also discussed where AEDs are located on school grounds and actions to take when someone is choking.

Gold Star Award Ceremony May 14
BCSS Middle School Teacher Kelli Zimmerman will receive one of the ten awards at the 7 PM ceremony on Tuesday, May 14. The event is free and open to the public and will take place at the Gallagher Bluedorn. We hope our staff, students, and families will show up in full force with signs and noisemakers to celebrate Mrs. Zimmerman and Bosco Catholic School System. If your student had Mrs. Zimmerman you know just how fantastic she is!
ESA Open until June 30
